Golden Globe winner Taron Egerton and writer Dennis Lehane have teamed up for another Apple TV+ limited series, Smoke. Their last project together was the Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated true crime miniseries Black Bird. And if Smoke is anywhere near as exhilarating and entertaining as Black Bird, we’re in for another Apple TV+ treat.
Who’s joining Taron Egerton in Apple TV+’s ‘Smoke’?
Egerton leads the cast as arson investigator Dave Gudsen opposite Jurnee Smollett (The Order, The Burial) as Detective Michelle Calderone. Other notable names include John Leguizamo (Encanto, The Power) as Esposito and Greg Kinnear, who previously worked with Egerton in Black Bird, as Harvey Englehart.
Other actors credited on the show’s official page include Rafe Spall (Trying), Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Dexter: Resurrection, The Lincoln Lawyer), and Hannah Emily Anderson (The Purge).

Where there’s ‘Smoke’, there’s a fiery story and trailer.
So what’s this Taron Egerton Apple TV+ series about? Not to be confused with Egerton’s British series The Smoke, Smoke follows Egerton’s Dave Gudsen and Smollett’s Detective Calderone as they try to solve the mystery of two serial arsonists in the Pacific Northwest.
The trailer certainly shows tension and doubt between the arson investigator and the detective. Gudsen questions why Detective Calderone is on the case, considering her lack of experience with arson, and seemingly doesn’t want her help. Meanwhile, Detective Calderone suspects Gudsen himself may be a criminal.
When can we watch ‘Smoke’ on Apple TV+?
The first two episodes of Smoke officially drop on Apple TV+ on Friday, June 27. (Though Apple tends to release new episodes a few hours early, so if you’re in the U.S., it may be available to watch as soon as late Thursday night on June 26.) Smoke will have nine total episodes with weekly episodic releases through Friday, Aug. 15.
