There are certain authors that, as soon as a book is announced, we’ll automatically order it. One of those authors? Anna Todd. She’s the queen of angst and romance, so when The Last Sunrise was announced, we ordered it fast.
If you aren’t familiar with The Last Sunrise, the book description reads, “Between chronic health issues and an overprotective mother, twenty-two-year-old Oriah Pera feels like she’s stuck waiting for her life to begin. But when her mother’s job takes them to Majorca, Ry knows this summer could be the start of her very own coming-of-age story.”
“In her first small act of rebellion, she heads off to the beach alone and meets an infuriatingly charming Spaniard. Julian makes Ry feel even more naive and inexperienced than she normally does, but she can’t tamp down her growing attraction.” It continues, “As the summer continues, Julian pulls Ry out of her shell and into the adventures she’s always craved. But with her return to America looming, Ry must decide if she’s brave enough to finally follow her heart and live for herself.”
The book has been optioned for a movie that is set to film this summer. Previously announced as Oriah, one of the leads in the movie, was Maia Reficco. Reficco is best known for Kally’s Mashup as well as Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.
But fans have been waiting for more information on who will play Julian. Well, it turns out there is an open casting call.
The casting call says, “Character is Male, 20s, Spanish. Super model good looks, Julián is a strikingly handsome, confident, and unapologetically bold local Mallorcan with a quick wit and a strong sense of identity. He’s the kind of guy who commands attention wherever he goes… LEAD.”
Tentatively, The Last Sunrise movie is set to start filming this August. Jennifer Gibgot, Anna Todd and Lena Roklin are producing.
