We’re just a bit angry – still – that FBI: International was cancelled. It feels like someone stabbed us in the back and cancelled Christmas.
Now, I am trying to be nice, because this past season was so good. Having Jesse Lee Sofer added to the cast made the show come alive in a new way. It feels like we were given something nice, and it was taken away.
It was a shocker to me when the show was cancelled, but it turns out that someone else was surprised – the co-creator. Derek Haas is speaking out about the cancellation.
“I was so sad to hear about the cancellation,” he told TV Line, adding, “because I loved Jesse Soffer as Wes on the show and really thought it was a dynamic cast addition in Season 4.”
“I have no insight into why it was canceled,” Derek continued. “I love [President of CBS Entertainment] Amy [Reisenbach] and [EVP of current and daytime programming] Eric [Kim] over at CBS, plus all my good friends at Wolf [Entertainment], and trust their instincts. So they must’ve had reasons that had nothing to do with the quality of the show.”
Previously, Amy Reisenbach had spoken out about the decision to cancel the show. She said, “We love working with Dick Wolf and we’re so excited to bring CIA onto the schedule. We have to be fiscally responsible, and ultimately, those deals and the shows just weren’t penciling out for us from an economic perspective. But we want to be in the business with Dick. We’re excited to launch a new two-hour block next season.”
We know that we’ll be watching, but we may be bitter for a hot second. Bear with us.
