When I sat down to watch Ransom Canyon, I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. However, it pulled me and wouldn’t let go. There wasn’t a part of this story or a character that didn’t draw me in. Thankfully, Christmas has come early and today, Netflix gave the gift of a renewal for a second season.
That’s right Netflix announced the hit modern western drama Ransom Canyon has been renewed for a second season!
“I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon! Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride,” said Showrunner/Creator/Executive Producer April Blair.
If you haven’t watched the first season of Ransom Canyon, you definitely should. The first season, follows, “three ranching family dynasties are locked in a contest for control of the land, and their lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying their way of life. At the center of it all is stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), who is healing from heartbreaking loss and on a quest for vengeance.”
It continues, “Staten’s only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), longtime family friend and owner of the local dance hall. But as the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. Vise tightening, Staten fights to protect the land he calls home — and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.”
Ransom Canyon is the latest addition to Netflix’s collection of comfort entertainment. Comfort entertainment, I say? Yes. It’s a show that you won’t feel pressure to watch, but one you will binge and have no regrets for how you’ve spent your time.
A trend that reflects a growing audience preference for easy-to-watch stories, perfect for both solo enjoyment and co-viewing. Netflix is home to a slate of “blue skies” shows, movies and games, offering new seasons of beloved shows such as Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias, The Lincoln Lawyer, and My Life with the Walter Boys.
Production for season 2 of Ransom Canyon will return to Netflix Studios Albuquerque. The newly expanded studio incorporates four new soundstages and several sustainability features, including onsite solar and battery storage systems, geothermal heating and cooling, all-electric appliances, and fast vehicle chargers. These upgrades aim to reduce the studio’s carbon footprint, lower operating costs, enhance energy efficiency, and enable the production of more shows and movies that people love.
Ransom Canyon stars Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Andrew Liner, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, and Marianly Tejada. We’re so excited to see them all back on our screens!
