A hill that we will die on is that Practical Magic is an iconic movie. The original stars of the movie, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, are what made that movie what it is. When you hear that they are returning for the sequel, you know it is going to be good.
When movies are made, one thing that we definitely look forward to is the casting. With this sequel, we’ve been paying attention and wondering what casting is coming, who the characters are, and guessing on the plot line. We get excited to see some of our favorites on the screen.
And Joey King is definitely one of our favorites.
King will be playing Sally’s daughter. The team behind the movie, which is now in production, said to Deadline, “Twenty-five years ago, Sally, Gillian, Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny flew off the pages of Alice Hoffman’s beloved novel and into theaters around the world, and we are thrilled to bring the Owens family back to the big screen with Joey, Lee, Maisie, Solly and Xolo joining the next chapter in our story. The enduring affection for these characters has been our inspiration to deliver the next installment in the Owens’ story to new fans, and those who’ve been with us since the beginning.”
King took to Instagram to show off her new hair color for the movie. We have to admit, we’re obsessed with the red.

There definitely is a little witch in all of us. We kinda love that. Practical Magic 2 (whatever the title may be, who knows) will be released in theaters on September 18, 2026.
