Since its premiere in 2014, Outlander has been much more than a love story between Claire and Jamie Fraser. With Season 8 marking the end of the main storyline, STARZ has made it clear the universe isn’t over yet. Their next big project is Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel focused on the origins of the iconic protagonists. The series will explore the love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents, and how the choices of the past helped shape their fates.
More than just a prequel, Blood of My Blood promises to be a story with its own identity — romantic, tragic, and deeply connected to the emotional DNA of Gabaldon’s universe. It’s also a chance to explore how two very different worlds — the Highland clans of the 18th century and early 20th-century British society — shaped two people who would go on to change time itself.
With the production team led by Matthew B. Roberts, Maril Davis, and Ronald D. Moore, this new installment ambitiously expands the Outlander narrative universe, with two distinct timelines, an entirely new cast, and the promise of a production that maintains the high emotional and visual standards of the original series. Here’s everything we know so far.

The Plot
The official synopsis of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is “the show spotlights two fated love stories set in different time periods, which explore the lives and relationships of Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) in World War I England, and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) in the rugged Highlands of early 18th century Scotland. These two new couples must fight against all odds to defy the forces that seek to tear them apart as their love stories unfold across time.”

The Opening Titles
The opening titles of Outlander: Blood of My Blood are a visual and sonic love letter that honors the legacy of the original series while carving out its own identity. The iconic song takes on a new form—raw, deeply Scottish, with traditional instrumentation that immediately transports us to the Highlands of the 18th century. The visuals, gorgeously filmed, feature not only sweeping landscapes but also glimpses of key moments we’ll see throughout the season, offering a preview of what’s to come.
And yes, the dancers at the stones are back. This is a poetic, direct connection to Outlander that reminds us this story, too, is born from myth and fate. With this opening sequence, the prequel establishes its voice without breaking the emotional thread that ties all Fraser generations together.
