Believe it or not, there will be people experiencing Haley Joel Osment for the first time when they tune in to watch Wednesday Season 2. And instead of shaming them and going, “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T KNOW WHO HALEY JOEL OSMENT IS?!” we’re here to educate. Because IMDb can only give you so much and we’ve got a quick and easy guide from where you might recognize him from or what you should watch after his performance as the Kansas City Scalper.
When Wednesday Season 2 starts, the titular character has honed her psychic abilities. And she’s using said abilities to finish what she started as a child aka figuring out who the Kansas City Scalper is. When she approaches the infamous serial killer, he’s revealed to be Osment. He promptly kidnaps her and plays mind games before gifting her a doll that looks like Wednesday. That’s of course where Thing steps in and absolutely thrashes him.
But where might fans recognize Osment from?
Haley Joel Osment started acting in 1994. He has over 130 credits to his name, ranging from TV and film. One of his first big roles was in Forrest Gump as Forrest Junior. And he did shows like Thunder Alley and The Jeff Foxworthy Show in the mid-90’s. But his most recognizable role is in the 1999 film The Sixth Sense. Particularly the scene below where he says, “I see dead people.” to Bruce Willis’ character.
This moment became a cultural touchstone and pop culture reference that has popped up in everything from The Office to Scary Movie 2 and Pen15. And while he’s done a bunch of other movies since then, like the notable film A.I. Artifical Intelligence and Tusk, The Sixth Sense remains his most iconic role… on screen.
If you’re a fan of Kingdom Hearts, you might recognize Osment’s voice. He’s the English voice actor for the main character Sora. And he’s continued to reprise the role across the various sequels, spin-offs, and all the games in between the sequels. He’s also voiced characters in Young Jedi Adventures, American Dad!, and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.
