I think that love is funny. Before you think that I am in the wrong with that statement, let me explain. Love makes no sense. It’s like how does your body and mind just start to feel this devotion to someone that is unbreakable? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Then again, I am a cynic. So I wonder with me being just that – how is it that I find myself sitting here and watching romance and getting all giddy over watching people fall in love on the screen? See, love is funny.
But I will take all the funny as I can get, because Providence Falls and watching Liam and Cora fall in love makes me happy.
And I will take all of that.
LIAM
Liam and Cora are awkward. Why? Well, when she decides that she’s going to tell him how she feels at the end of the last episode, he runs away. Sir, you loved her in the 1840s and now – stop being scared.
I know, I know – Liam has a mission. He’s got to get Cora with Finn, and I know that is breaking his heart. Having someone you love need to be with someone else, and you’re responsible for getting them together? Hard pass.
He needs to get rid of the zapping that comes every time he touches Cora, because she is taking it as being repulsed by her. I was very thankful that Liam was able to get that taken away.

Liam and Cora’s relationship is complex. They want to keep it professional – at least that is what they say – but that is something that feels impossible to them both. Liam only opens up Cora when it’s a “moment” but I do wonder if he realizes that. He wants her to remember, and she is – but she isn’t telling anyone that.
It’s when she checks out the evidence and he puts the necklace – the necklace that is hers from the 1800s – on her, you can see her doubting herself and her dreams. It’s painful – in a way – to watch because she’s letting all the men around her dictate how she’s supposed to feel or her self-worth.
And that doesn’t feel true to the character.
Cora’s supposed to be strong and fearless. She’s supposed to have confidence. I hate seeing all of that go away, because her father butted in where he’s not supposed to.
It doesn’t make it any better that Liam tells her that he can’t give her happiness. Excuse you, sir. Why are you shooting her when she’s already down?
ANGEL OF NO DISCRETION
Suzette is the bestie that we all need and yet the one that we don’t. But we’ll get there. Suzette catches Liam talking to Agon, and then Agon just disappears in front of her eyes.
What I partially love about Providence Falls is that the Department of Destiny makes me LOL. However, Agon is a romantic and just wants to be there for Liam. He wants Cora and Liam to be together, even though he knows that can’t happen. You have to love someone on Liam’s side.
It’s Suzette seeing things that she shouldn’t be seeing that makes Liam tell her the truth. Now, am I surprised that she believes him? Of course I am. He tries to get her to be involved, but she says that she won’t meddle in her bestie’s love life.
Ummm… that’s what best friends are for.
Suzette seems suspect at every turn. Here’s why – she’s too pushy. I didn’t really notice in the first movie, but I did notice here. She also ends up agreeing to help them with Cora, and I don’t believe that any bestie would agree to set up their friend for the supernatural. And hey, I’ve watched way too much Vampire Diaries and time travel shows to know that doesn’t work.
BIKER GANGS
I kinda love that Finn was involved with a biker gang. I also love that Suzette calls them sweet. It’s one of those things that you can’t help but laugh and also think that Suzette is on the right track.
Eli, the leader, was surprised to see Finn walk into his auto shop.
TBH, I really wouldn’t think that Finn was a hustler. He’s just too boy next door. But the reality is that we haven’t gotten to know Finn, so this look at who he was is a good thing. Even if it just seemed odd.
Apparently, Finn was a pool shark, and that helped him when he was younger. Finn wanted him back – most likely so he could win a lot of money. Which, hey – I can’t blame him – Finn that is, for agreeing to go to the bar that night.
It’s a testament to what he is willing to do for Cora.
It’s also to get Eli to talk about what he knows about the Bradys. Cora wants to solve her case, but she never wants to do that at the cost of others.
Eli does tell her – eventually – that there was like a million dollars missing and shows her that Meredith was the one casing the joint. I have to wonder, what is Meredith running from?

Also, why isn’t the club after her? There is something I am missing, and I understand that. But I am not going to think too deeply into it, as I really don’t care about the. case solving, even though I care about all of these characters (except Meredith).
FINN, YOU LIAR
One thing that Cora doesn’t like is a liar. So finding out that Finn lied is not a good thing. She asked him point-blank – did Eli ask you to do anything in return, because that would be crossing a line. He said No, of course not.
Finn lied.
I get that Finn is attracted to Cora, and I can appreciate that he wants to do anything for her. It’s just that he lied, and that makes me want him to like him even more. I feel like Finn and Liam are both willing to do whatever they can for her, but both are denying her the truth.
Finn, you shoulda have just been honest from the get-go.
The thing is, Cora is very principled. It is hard to live up to her expectations. Watching this, though, I think that for Cora, it is hard for her to live up to her own expectations. Cora is not sure of what is real and what isn’t – her dreams are getting to her.
But what is hard to see is that no matter who she is around, there is a part of her that is breaking. You can see it in her eyes at every turn.
I don’t know that Cora knows how to act, because it feels like every part of her life is dictated by others, and she’s told what she’s worthy of and what she’s not. She’s told what she’s good at in her job and what they believe needs improvement. Finding your own way through all of that is a journey, and it’s definitely a long one.
With Finn, she expected the truth because he’s always given it to her. And now, here they are, in a moment that feels like she can’t trust him at all. That breaks both of them, but it’s how they can find their way back that is the most important thing.
MAGNUS CAN SUCK IT
I don’t even want to waste time on Magnus, but since he’s a part of this story, I don’t have a choice. He’s just one of those people who gives ewww. Why he always shows up for Cora – I don’t get it. No one wants him there. I don’t feel I am wrong with that one.
Liam stopping Cora from inviting Magnus in when he takes her home – I applaud. I think that he needed to intervene. No one can trust Magnus, and I think we all need to remember that.
Now, when Cora makes a choice to go to visit Magnus, I gave the stink eye. She’s not being smart – she’s being reckless, and that helps neither one of them.
Yes, Magnus is involved in the missing money. He tries to get her not to say anything, and is like I will cut you in.
He really doesn’t know Cora and how she lives by her ethic,s and definitely doesn’t understand that it is an insult to her.
I wish that bottle had hit Magnus.
A LITTLE MALE BONDING
Cora had asked the Brady assistant to tell her if any utilities went on at their properties, as it isn’t normal for them to. And it happens.
Only when it does happen, Cora’s gone, and Liam wants to go. He asks the chief for a ride, and he says he can’t, but he’ll send a uniform to drive him.
That uniform never comes, but luckily for Liam, Finn does.
The two head out and find that at the property, they just missed Meredith. As the two investigate, Cora sends a picture of the money, and they know that she’s in trouble. Going as fast as they can, they get to Magnus’ and find that Cora has fallen into the water unconscious.

And Magnus is on the run.
It’s Finn who runs to grab Magnus, and Liam saves Cora. He’s able to grab her out of the water and save her. Not ashamed to admit that even with the cheesy lines here, I cried.
I made it perfectly clear that I was team Liam all the way. Seeing him save her and seeing him kiss her was everything – BECAUSE THE SHIP SET SAIL. Was Finn heartbroken? Yes. Does that bother me? No.
I have this feeling inside of me that wonders why it is that we rely so much on fate. That is, if we believe in it, that is. Isn’t every decision that we make a part of fate? Who knows. I just feel like everything builds upon things, and this movie has left me questioning even that.
We’re told that Cora’s fate is to make Second Chances huge and that it will save a lot of people, and she needs to be with someone truly good to do that. Now I think that is crap. Why? Because who is to say that Liam isn’t good? Aren’t we supposed to believe that people can change?
That people can grow?
Because that’s all I have seen him do throughout this series. All I have seen him do is grow.
It’s not even about the ship at this point – it’s about telling someone they aren’t good. That bothers me. Sure, some people are evil, but some people are great, and some people are learning how to be great.
The angels have this fate and need to be with Finn — they have it wrong.
