Guinness beer has accompanied us throughout our lives. Whether it’s a quiet outing with friends or a wilder party. But have you ever wondered how the ultimate beer empire was built? Well, House of Guinness is here to answer those questions.
The show will tell us how an empire was built from the ground up, but above all, how it nearly crumbled several times. Amidst all this, a family navigates between suffocating expectations and the freedom to fight for what they truly want. The only thing left to see is whether they’re willing to pay the price.
House of Guinness will consist of eight episodes with a cast full of big names! Anthony Boyle will play Arthur Guinness, Louis Partridge—our favorite amateur detective from Enola Holmes—will play Edward Guinness, Emily Fairn will play Anne Plunket (née Guinness), Fionn O’Shea will play Benjamin Guinness, James Norton will play Sean Rafferty, and Dervla Kirwan, for her part, will play Aunt Agnes Guinness.
Along with them, Jack Gleeson—you will surely recognize him from Game of Thrones—will play Byron Hedges, Niamh McCormack will play Ellen Cochrane, Danielle Galligan—we will always remember her for Shadow and Bone—will play Lady Olivia Hedges, Ann Skelly will play Adelaide Guinness, Seamus O’Hara will play Patrick Cochrane, Michael McElhatton will play John Potter, David Wilmot will play Bonnie Champion, Michael Colgan will play Rev Henry Gratton, Jessica Reynolds will play Lady Christine O’Madden, Hilda Fay will play Sultan, and Elizabeth Daulau will play Lady Henrietta St Lawrence.
As for the behind-the-scenes crew, House of Guinness is created and written by Steven Knight. Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Steven Knight, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland, and Ivana Lowell will serve as executive producers. Meanwhile, Cahal Bannon and Howard Burch will do the same as producers. Tom Shankland will be in charge of the director’s chair for block 1, and Mounia Akl for block 2.
