Chicago Med Season 11, Episode 1 ‘We All Fall Down’ picks back up with the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers and with all the other changes going on at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. That includes Maggie’s absence, which is deeply felt, Lennox trying to deal with a diagnosis she never wanted to know, and Asher just trying to deal. Period.
It’s a disconcerting episode, because a lot has changed. And yet, in many ways, things just keep on moving. They have to, in the ED. It’s also a disconcerting episode because of a couple of particular scenes that pull you out of the ED feel. You’ll know when you see them. Overall, the standout of the hour is Jessy Schram’s Hannah Asher, and she promises to be the standout of the season, considering the material she’s getting.
Here are some teases for the Chicago Med Season 11 premiere:
- We do get an answer to the baby daddy question! That’s all I’m saying about that.
- I lie; I’m also going to say that the subject is broached a few times throughout the hour. It’s a big thing, and it merits quite a few conversations.
- Are there awkward conversations? Yes! If you thought you were getting out of that, you were wrong. I, personally, wanted the Earth to swallow me whole in one particular moment. I still kinda want that, just thinking about it.
- Whatever you thought you were getting from Lennox post-diagnosis, you’re probably not getting that. I mean that in a good way, honestly. This is as interested as I’ve been in Lennox.
- There’s a surprising and somewhat moment in an OR in this episode that put a a lot of things in perspective.
- We get a little something about Maggie in this episode.
- I won’t deny that this storyline with Mitch and the well rescue victim feels a bit ironic, considering he came out of that well only to tell Asher he loved her. And she said it back! And then they didn’t talk about it!
- A lot is going on for Archer in this hour, emotionally. It’s interesting to see how he deals with it when Asher cannot be there for him, because she’s got her own issues.
- It feels like the thing about Frost is that you never really know what’s going on with Frost.
- Can we breathe easy about Doctor Charles for now? I think we can.

Chicago Med airs Wednesdays on NBC.
Don’t understand your comment about Hannah and Ripley not talking about the “I love you”. I thought they did in episode 18?
Hannah told Lizzie she said I love you to Ripley because she thought he was dying and Ripely told Hannah he’s not going to hold her to her “I love you“ because she said that when she thought he was dead.
I thought the whole point of both those conversations was to show that the dramatic “I love you” was more out of desperation rather than real feeling.
In my opinion, that was more avoidance than really talking about it. But we’ll see how the season develops!
