Love is Blind season 9 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in Love is Blind Season 9, Episodes 10-11. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by Love is Blind season 9 episodes 1-6 breakdown and episodes 7-9 breakdown), here is our breakdown of episodes 10-11 of season 9!
1. At this point, who’s going to make it down the aisle?

Lizzie: No one. Absolutely no one. And I’m not sure anyone should. Megan and Jordan have an outside chance but I don’t trust that they can get over the relatively minor issues that are huge when it’s money and a whole kid that’s standing in your way. I dunno, I dunno.
Lyra: When it comes to Love is Blind Season I think Megan and Jordan could make it down the aisle. They just need to take some time and actually communicate effectively. Solution? Therapy. That’s the only way you’re going to survive a strenuous experiment like this where your life is suddenly clashing with another’s forever.
2. In your opinion, why did Joe call it quits with Madison?

Lizzie: He was never attracted to her. I think he was trying to stick it out so he wouldn’t look like the bad guy, but he was just not into her physically. Which is so absurd to me because 1) have you seen her and 2) he had no problem having sex with her anyway!
But yeah, Joe just didn’t like her that much and he was never willing to try to reconcile his connection with her with the fact that she didn’t look like he wanted her to. So, it’s clear that he was always pretending. For Joe, love is very much not blind.
Lyra: Joe called it quits with Madison because he was never in it from the beginning. I think as soon as the doors opened, he didn’t like what he saw. And he didn’t want to say it in front of the cameras. Why? Because he came on the show for his 15 minutes of fame. And it’s Reality TV 101 that you don’t call the girl that you proposed to that you weren’t ever really into her.
In a way I think Joe did Madison a favor by setting her free. Because she was desperate to understand why he didn’t want to be with her. And he wasn’t going to give her a single answer in front of the cameras. But that’s what reunions are for. Because people talk, especially on reality TV. And he seems like the person, if his comments about Nick are anything to go by, that he likes to puff out his chest and spin a tale because the attention is addictive. And he’s going to tell people what he really thinks about Madison.
Those gossips are then definitely going to then tell Madison. And then Madison is going to tell us during the reunion.
3. Joe wasn’t the only one that called it quits. Nick did too. Why did Nick choose to walk away from Annie?

Lizzie: I think Nick left Annie because she was too intense and he just wasn’t at that level. I think he wanted to be, but I think her basically demanding that he be sure when the normal thing was to have doubts really chipped away at any confidence he had.
I also think that he picked her because she fit the image of what he was supposed to want, not because he really wanted her. And that’s very sad.
Lyra: Setting aside the speculations that I have about Nick as a queer woman myself, I think Nick dumped Annie because of this one particular line. He said: “How can your love for me sometimes be so deep, and then sometimes it feels so shallow?” Annie does oscillate between heavy moments of thinking he’s not in it with her to then overwhelming amounts of love. And he’s simply not reciprocating or into that kind of love language.
Setting my speculations on the table again, if Nick is part of the queer community as I suspect, he’s having a crisis about his future on camera. And if he is part of the queer community and has been taught to hate what he is, he could be realizing that he’s trapping himself in a loveless marriage with a homophobe. Maybe he can’t take it, the thought of that future. Or maybe I’m totally wrong and he’s just not that into her.
4. KB accused Edmond of being a different person in front of the camera. If true, why is she sticking around?

Lizzie: I think it’s all about not paying that fine. Well, I think there’s that and sadly there’s a deep desire to fix him within her. I think she thinks she can be what he needs and she can help him become the man he’s supposed to be or something. But that’s not how things work. You can’t fix people or make them into something other than what they are. And KB, especially if she thinks he’s being facetious, needs to put herself first.
Lyra: Honestly? I think KB is sticking around for two reasons. The first one being that she doesn’t want to pay the fine for not making it to the altar. I don’t know how much it is but I’m with her and I wouldn’t want to pay it either. Joe and Nick can do whatever they want.
Another practical reason as to why KB is sticking around when it comes to Edmond is that she thinks she can fix him. We want to have faith in the ones that we choose to love. And her faith is tied up with this hope that she can guide him towards being the best version of himself. But that’s something that he has to do for himself. And I don’t think that’s in the books for Edmond if he’s one person on camera and then another off.
5. Megan and Jordan love each other but are very different people. What can they do to make it down the aisle?

Lizzie: I’m sure they will, but I think they can if they’re willing to communicate and compromise. Is that something they want? There are people you’re willing to compromise for and others you just won’t do it for. They better figure out which is which fast.
Lyra: I mentioned it in the first question in this breakdown and I’ll mention it again here. Megan and Jordan need therapy. They like each other. Maybe even love. But they live in two completely different worlds. And if they’re going to blend their lives together in such a serious way aka marriage, they need therapy and to be patient with each other. If not, what they’ve built will collapse or resentment will build.
6. Ali and Anton are also different people trying to make it work. What makes them different from Megan and Jordan?

Lizzie: I don’t think Anton really loves Ali, he loves the idea of her or the stereotype of the woman she is alongside how she looks. He’s not willing to make any real changes for the relationship and all the deep conversations we’ve seen them have end up with avoidance or assumptions. They might trick themselves into saying yes, but I don’t think so.
I think Ali, in particular, isn’t sure if Anton is the partner she wants. The drinking, the partying, the lack of accountability. Not very good signs.
Lyra: The difference between Megan and Jordan and Ali and Anton is that the latter grounded their relationship on lies. They both have omitted information about their habits when it comes to their daily lives or just spending money. And then we have the drinking.
Life is hard. If Anton wants to have a drink after work, that’s his prerogative. In the same vein it’s Ali’s prerogative to call out what she sees as possible excessive drinking. And if she’s going to go for her Masters, she needs someone that is stable and in it to be her partner. I don’t think Anton’s there yet or that he might even want to be there.
7. What’s something that you wish would’ve been taken a little more seriously in these 2 episodes?

Lizzie: I feel like everything has been a little superficial, maybe because the people are? The last two seasons have left a very sour taste in my mouth. I don’t have to believe in love, but right now I believe in nothing.
Lyra: I feel like every year with Love is Blind, we’re missing more and more scenes. You guys are there with the cameras. You don’t have any handheld ones? None that can capture the small moments like the one in the car between KB and Edmond?
Overall this show has lost the little charm that it had in the latter seasons. So instead of stepping it up with mainstream music and homophobes being given a platform, how about you turn on the cameras and give us some actual footage that explains a little more why Joe and Nick booked it.
Love is Blind Season 9 Episodes 1-11 are available on Netflix.
