We’ve loved Stana Katic ever since we saw her on Castle. And the announcement of a new project with her wasn’t on our bingo card for 2025. But we’re thrilled and excited to see Entangled. Do you want to know all the details? Keep reading!
According to Deadline, Katic will star in Entangled, a new show that delves into the CIA. The most intriguing part is that Katic will reunite with Will Pascoe, who was an executive producer and showrunner on season 3 of Absentia, Katic’s last series. Entangled follows “married couple Abby (Katic) and Jim Sullivan, deep-cover CIA officers who must juggle their responsibilities as spies and parents while stationed overseas in one of the world’s most dangerous countries.”
However, as is often the case, truth is stranger than fiction, and the show is inspired by the true story of CIA intelligence officers Meredith and Freddie Woodruff. They were one of the Agency’s first undercover husband-and-wife teams, carrying out operations abroad while also raising a family. So, it certainly sounds complex.
As for the team behind the scenes, Pascoe is writing and will serve as showrunner. He will also be an executive producer alongside Jeff Frost Katic, and Meredith Woodruff, who will also be a consultant. John Sipher, Jerry O’Shea, and Rachel Harner of Spycraft Entertainment will also be executive producers.
With the success of shows like NCIS: Tony & Ziva most recently for CBS, audiences are hungry for more shows where couples face the world together, especially if it’s a procedural. And Entangled seems to be following just that path while satisfying fans of other similar shows like The Americans, that also had a married couple that were spies. If you mix in there high stress situations that lead the fake couple to actual have feelings for each other, even better!
