What would you be willing to do to find your husband? Ava’s answer to that question is “anything.” Ava’s husband disappears after a catastrophic military experiment decimates Tasmania’s population. So she joins a “body recovery unit” looking for answers… and hoping to find her husband alive. However, that’s not exactly what she finds.
The corpses begin to show signs of life. But this isn’t the most chilling part. Ava will have to fight not only for her life and to find out what happened to her husband, but also to avoid losing herself when her survival instinct takes over.

The We Bury the Dead trailer perfectly shows how Ava tries to hold onto the hope of seeing her husband again, even as despair and grief increasingly encroach upon her day. But everything becomes a race against time for survival when literal zombies are walking the streets. The lack of answers and the need to live another day change Ava. They make her wilder, more fearless, somehow darker. So Ava has to fight against that darkness that threatens to consume her, lest she lose herself.
And we’re excited to see it!
We Bury the Dead will open in theaters on January 2, 2026.
