Here we go!
Reusable People in High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded’

In High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded’ our not-so-favorite captain, Nick Wagner, began to show his true colors. And we knew we were right not to trust him. It all starts with that little confrontation with Selena about Morgan. And here we’ll give Nick credit; he needs to be informed about a decision like that. That said, we want to punch him. Hard. Nick had no right to treat Selena that way or to undermine her in front of her team.
Yeah, Selena knows he’s the captain, not her; she doesn’t need Nick to humiliate her in public to remind her. And the team doesn’t need Nick to use them as if they were nothing more than objects. And that’s what he does to everyone. He doesn’t lead them, he doesn’t work with them, he constantly makes it clear that he sets the rules and everyone else works for him. Nick doesn’t take into account what others think; he simply observes them to gauge their feelings and use them as he pleases later.
While Selena does whatever it takes to protect her team and work with them without losing her authority, Nick doesn’t care about them. He cares about solving the case as quickly as possible…at any cost. Even if that cost is sacrificing one of his own. And that’s exactly what Nick did to Morgan in High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded.’ He sacrificed her. Nick knew that Morgan couldn’t work on that case and what she risked if she did. And Karadec kept reminding him of this, trying to stop him, but Nick didn’t care.
And the worst part is that Nick genuinely thinks he has nothing to apologize for. Nick has the arrogance, the audacity, to think it was Morgan’s decision, knowing the consequences. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nick put a lighter to a flamethrower and then blamed the flamethrower for catching fire. Nick knows Morgan; he knows she can’t resist a case, a puzzle, and he also knows she doesn’t understand the gravity of what’s happening.

A True Leader

Nick’s duty as Morgan’s boss was to protect her, even from herself. And that meant preventing her from working on the case precisely because he knows how valuable Morgan is to the team. Or, at the very least, having a contingency plan to prevent her from losing her job if she’s caught, as happens in High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded.’ But Nick did none of that. He used Morgan and then abandoned her, discarded her, as if she were nothing.
That’s why we love the way Selena and Karadec stand up to Nick. Selena tells him some hard truths—seriously, I want to get her words tattooed on me. Truths she’d been holding back for a long time. Selena put up with all of Nick’s outbursts to prevent the team from suffering, but he wasn’t satisfied and let one of them fall alone. Why? A whim? To demonstrate his power and position?
If Nick were a true captain, he would protect his team, instead of always thinking about how to make it clear that he’s the one in charge. A leader who needs to prove their leadership will never be one. So we feel every word Selena says in High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded’ as our own. It was about time she stood up to Nick and set him straight, telling him everything he deserves. And we love that she didn’t back down, no matter the consequences.
All of this is made clear again at the end of High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded.’ It was Selena who pulled strings to find a way to get Morgan her position back. Nick just agreed, but if it had been up to him, nothing would have changed. Selena took a gamble on Morgan and made a powerful enemy. Nick, as always, kept his own skin safe. Which proves, in case it wasn’t already clear, who deserves the captain’s job.

Partners

As for Karadec, he was biting his tongue, but as soon as Nick started affecting Morgan, he stopped. He openly confronted Nick and made his position clear. Nick gave him a direct order, and Karadec couldn’t disobey, but he made sure Nick knew he disagreed with what he was doing.
But this all came to nothing when Nick’s actions cost Morgan her job in High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded’. Karadec made it clear he was coming for him, he was going to uncover his secrets, and he would make sure to hit him where it hurts most. His partner love her job because of him, and Karadec is prepared to make Nick pay for it.
And we love this Karadec in destroyer mode to protect Morgan.

Other Stuff in High Potential Season 2 Episode 10 ‘Grounded’

- All of this could have been avoided if they had given the job to Selena, just saying.
- Morgan really broke down when she found out the firing was for real. She was living her worst nightmare: being too much and that everything good in her life had an expiration date.
- Our most hated person? Nick Wagner. Our second most hated person? That guy of internal affairs. Even the strictest of the teachers understood that the challenge Morgan presents is worth it because of her talent.
- Morgan just needs guidance, and if Nick were a good captain, he could be that guidance.
- But, in reality, that guidance is Selena and Karadec. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
- Selena is a QUEEN.
- We loved that little moment between Selena and Morgan. Morgan was truly touched and grateful that Selena had risked everything for her.
- We all need a friend like Selena.
- Protective Karadec is the best!
- Karadec wasn’t going to lose his partner without a fight and without making his opinions clear. Screw the consequences. And we love him!
- Karadec actually brought Morgan the food and made sure everything went well. If he won’t investigate with Morgan, he won’t do it with anyone else.
- Yeah, Morgadec are married; they just don’t know it yet.
