Sometimes we’re given gifts that we didn’t expect, but were hoping for. As we’ve been anxiously awaiting any news on the Red, White, & Royal Blue sequel, we’ve been given a lot this past week. Leave it to Prime Video to make sure that we are fed.
The announcement that the sequel was underway came from stars Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine. With a video on social media, the two announced that they were back on set for Red, White & Royal Wedding.
A wedding has had us excited for weeks. We’ve also been wondering who, from the cast of the first movie, would be returning. When the news came that Uma Thurman and Sarah Shahi were confirmed to return, as President Ellen Claremont and her deputy chief of staff, Zahra Bankston, we got very excited. The two are favorites, and Shahi’s character of Zahra Bankston had us laughing a lot during the first movie.
RETURNING CAST
Also returning are Rachel Hilson (Nora Halleran), Ellie Bamber (Princess Beatrice), Clifton Collins Jr (Congressman and First Husband Oscar Diaz), Stephen Fry (King James III), Thomas Flynn (Prince Philip), Aneesh Sheth (Secret Service agent Amy), and Malcolm Atobrah (Percy).
In addition, we have some newcomers added to the cast. Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, My Lady Jane) and Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings, The Room Next Door) will be joining the sequel.
PLOT
The plot details of the sequel have been canceled, but to us, it doesn’t matter what it is. We’ll be watching all of the news that comes from the film. We’re hoping for a wedding between Alexander Clairmont-Diaz and Prince Henry, but in the announcement video Taylor Zakhar Perez said it wasn’t their wedding.
“Oh, I did want to say that we are here for Bea’s wedding,” Perez said, but we’re not sure if we believe him.
Jamie Babbit is directing the film from a script by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López, and Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston.
