We watch a lot of TV and movies! So yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
Best Scene of the Week

Jeanette: I finally binged the new Lord of the Flies miniseries, and I’m OBSESSED! Jack Thorne (who just recently had a hit with Adolescence) is a master of immersive storytelling. The sheer chaos of the “feast” scene in Episode 3 was truly jaw-dropping. I was scared. I was fascinated, and then I was horrified.
Rachel: I’m a fangirl for romance above anything, so I’m VERY torn about what to choose from the first season of Off Campus here. At the same time, I also feel the need to single out a scene that really made me laugh from this week’s episode of The Testaments. Of course, Gilead is not giving the girls the facts about sex, even though some of them are about to be married. When Daisy told Shunammite exactly what sex is, and Shunammite DIDN’T BELIEVE HER, well, that was funny. I guess there’s a depressing layer under that humor, but you have to take what lightness you can in Gilead.
Lyra: Lady yelling “Knee!” in Devil May Cry Season 2. Dante didn’t even hesitate. He just did what was told and she used his knee to propel herself into the air to keep fighting. Feel like this was the moment that propelled me to go, “Hmmm maybe I need to know more about this DanLady ship.”
Raquel: All of Jamie and Claire’s scenes in the Outlander series finale. I have my issues with the episode—and the ending—but they’re the best, and every scene made me emotional and even cry. And DanLady, the ship Lyra mentioned, definitely sounds like something I’m going to love, so maybe I’ll check out Devil May Cry.

Raquel: Jamie & Claire from Outlander, the heart and the soul of the show.
Jeanette: Okay, last week I wrote about Debrah Vance and Ava’s kiss in Hacks, but I hadn’t actually watched the episode yet—I was just spoiled online. I have since watched the episode, and my God, what a blast. I’m a sucker for the “fake dating” trope, so watching Debrah and Ava scramble to play pretend couple was hilarious and somehow effortless because, let’s be real, they’re already like an old married couple in some ways.
Erin: I do think that we all know that I am in my Off Campus era and it is all I will be talking about for the foreseeable future. Hannah and Garrett are my ship of the week, followed up by Allie and Dean. I really loved the show. It felt so natural, not forced, and attainable. Hannah and Garrett – I loved them from the books, but them being brought to life – well, that was perfection.
I loved how we could see the differences between the characters’ lives, but also how that made them fit together. And I loved how you could also see that – Garrett for instance – he was more than a hockey player, he was also a man falling in love and the hockey player and the son of Phil Graham were all distinctly different on the screen. It was a show that reminded me that we are all more than one thing and one part of our personality does not define us.
Rachel: I am also going with Hannah and Garrett from Off Campus. Their romance was exceptional from start to finish. The fluff and sexy stuff that really builds a ship that lasts are perfectly executed with them. However, the angst, which is usually my least favorite part of any love story, works here, too, because it is substantive and carefully tied to character development. Plus, the actors’ performances and their chemistry were outstanding.
Best Performance of the Week

Raquel: Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. They were born to be Jamie and Claire. And I’ll never forget the way Balfe made me cry as she clung to Jamie’s body, not wanting anyone to touch him. I’m in awe of them.
Jeanette: Back to yell about Lord of the Flies! This is probably the most brutal version of the story yet. Every single child actor absolutely sells their character, which is especially impressive given the depth of the material. If I’m singling out anybody, though, it’s David McKenna, who played Piggy (I might still be crying).
Erin: While I will tell you – and die on the hill – that all of the cast of Off Campus were great, I think that the person that I would give this one to is Ella Bright. The way that she brought Hannah Wells to life was so important to me. I have never made a secret of the fact that I am a survivor of sexual assault. It is very hard to talk about but I do, because I need to find a way to heal.
What I also know is healing isn’t linear. The way that Hannah Wells in Off Campus was brought to life was a reminder of the fact that I am not defined by my assault, and I am more than that. Hannah Wells said that and it was at a moment that I needed the reminder. Ella Bright, your portrayal of Hannah was something that was so important to me and so many.
Jasmine: I watched the pilot episode of M.I.A NBC aired this week and my mind was blown! I’m not familiar with Shannon Gisela who plays the lead Etta but her performance as she had to keep herself hidden from the cartel who killed her entire family was heartbreaking. Etta was powerless at that moment but she knew that her parents would have wanted her to survive. I’m now ready to binge the entire series because I couldn’t look away the entire episode!
Moment that Annoyed Us This Week

Raquel: I hate that STARZ’s Outlander gave us an open ending in the finale. This is a series finale, I want an ending, not some da**n puzzle to solve.
Erin: Off Campus – I love you, but I was soooo angry that Garrett Graham felt that it was okay to fight the man that raped Hannah. I do understand his anger and the way he wanted to defend her. I just also felt that because Hannah didn’t confirm that it was him, and that it was just a moment where he took away Hannah’s voice and dictated what her healing should be. And that annoyed the hell out of me. The repercussions – it was a lot that a person could feel and go through, so it annoyed me that he decided to take it into his own hands.
Rachel: I was NOT happy with Agnes this week on The Testaments. After learning that Hulda was sexually assaulted by the same dentist who assaulted her, Agnes encouraged Hulda to tell the Aunts but didn’t support her with her own story when Christo-fascist Gilead protected the dentist, as we knew they would.
Hulda is her friend, and Agnes just kept her mouth shut when Aunt Vidala insisted Hulda just imagined it. Agnes is very young, and the episode’s voice-over showed how angry she was at herself about it, but still! Gilead counts on women not supporting each other in that way because it would weaken them. I’m definitely looking forward to Agnes maturing as the season goes on.
Jasmine: The first 10 minutes of Euphoria irritated me. Watching that gratuitous display with Cassie. Especially when she placed her bare chest up against the window a LOT. I don’t get what Sam Levinson is doing with Cassie’s character but her scenes annoy me all the time. Oh, and how many more times do we have to watch Nate get body parts cut off???
