“The universe is built on trying to find order through connection,” we hear as we press play on the trailer for The Love Hypothesis, “Molecules stay in motion, vibrating and colliding until they find a match, and when they do, something miraculous happens…”
Consider us teased, Prime Video. We’re sat.
The Love Hypothesis is based on the book of the same name by Ali Hazelwood. The gist, “a brilliant Ph.D. candidate focused on her future in academia. But when she realizes her best friend Ahn (Rachel Marsh) has fallen for her crush Jeremy (Nicholas Duvernay), Olive impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen (Bateman) to prove she’s moved on.”
It’s not that simple, though. What begins as a fake relationship spirals out of control. There are rules and boundaries set, but a mutually beneficial agreement has lines that begin to blur for both Adam and Olive. Olive has to “test her most daunting hypothesis yet: that love might actually be worth the risk.”
“We all want to see a lot more love than hate and this is that. I think it’s beautiful and hopefully feels timeless and feels like a movie you can go back and watch with your friends and swoon over,” Reinhart said of the movie. We love that she knows what fans want and how they are craving more romance.
Bateman had this to say about the film, “I’m really, really proud of what everyone did. I think it’s a really beautiful film.”
The Love Hypothesis will start streaming on Prime Video on September 23rd.
