We watch a lot of TV and movies! So yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?

Best Scene of the Week
Jasmine: I’m going to cheat a little bit here. Because I can only pick one person for Best Performance of the Week, I’m going to say Jacob Anderson’s scene in The Vampire Lestat Episode 1×03. When Louis tracked down Bruce AKA “Killer” and got justice for Claudia it was chef’s kiss. That entire moment was worth the wait.
Especially when you listen to Louis as he reads Claudia’s diary where she details Bruce attacking her. Louis remained restrained while reading because he refused to let Bruce see anything but disgust for his actions. That took strength. Then when he delivered the final blow to Bruce, I felt the release and even though Claudia wasn’t alive to witness it or get vengeance herself, Louis still took care of his child. And going to the diner afterwards to see Regina gave him comfort.
Erin: I have been watching a lot of micro-dramas lately and there is a show called Offside. I loved it sooo much. At the end, the main character – Matt is looking for his wife Jenna, who left thinking that she was helping his career by doing that. But he was broken without her and when he showed up at the coffee shop – I loved it. It was such a good microdrama scene.
But there was also a commercial that I have to give a nod to – Verizon, you made me want to switch.
Rachel: I think I have to go with the moment when Jessie found out how much she meant to her former owner, Emily, in Toy Story 5. Pixar has an infallible instinct for the emotional impact that a story needs, and this moment was spot on. It’s incredible that this franchise has crafted such well-rounded characters for so long.
And they’ve continued to develop them in believable and interesting ways. Jessie’s journey in this film was a perfect way to examine how tech is invading childhoods, resulting in a story that kids and their parents can relate to. All adults will be thinking about the toys they loved when this film is over. That’s special.
Lizzie: I’m going to give Connor Storrie flowers again, and not just because I wrote a long thing about his guest role on Criminal Minds: Evolution, but because it felt like that scene at the hospital with Lance Kingston was both the culmination of the arc and also such a nice setup for the show. Because yes, he was somewhat of an ass. But no, he did not deserve what happened. And Storrie sells the vulnerability, the rage and the sense of helplessness super well. How is it that we discovered more about how good he can be while watching him in a procedural?
Ship of the Week
Jasmine: We can talk about real couples here right? Okay, then I’m going with Tom Holland and Zendaya on the press tour for Spider-Man: Brandon New Day. They are the absolute cutest newlyweds. 🥹
Erin: I have to agree with Jasmine. Watching Tom Holland and Zendaya has been so great. It’s made me believe in love and the joy of it. And I am a cynic.
Shelby: Would it be too much if I said Hannah and Garrett on Off Campus? I’m still at the restaurant with the show. I can’t let it go. But, also, I’ve really fallen for Sam and Percy in Every Year After recently. Prime Video has been delivering the great ships lately.
Rachel: Mary and Tom in The Other Bennet Sister!!! This excellent series gave us a season finale this week that did justice to its inspiration, Jane Austen. The scene where they FINALLY get together was so beautifully set and staged that it looks like art. And the performances from Ella Bruccoleri and Donal Finn were amazing. It was just so swoonworthy. And now we’re getting a three-episode Christmas special later this year, too!
Best Performance of the Week
Jasmine: Sam Reid. Sam Reid. Episode 1×03 of The Vampire Lestat from start to finish his performance was riveting! Sam constantly has to play multiple emotions in quick succession. One minute he’s laughing in Daniel’s face, the next he’s crying tears of blood as he remembered his time with Nicky.
But of all the scenes from that episode, the one with him in the car was painful to watch. As he relived the trauma of his time with Magnus, who made him, you feel his fear, and the pain of the assault. Because that’s ultimately what it was. He was taken and turned against his will. The choice to switch between clips of Louis reading Claudia’s assault out loud only magnified the moment.
Erin: Hmmm… I am going to go with a vertical again (because that’s all I have watched this week). I watched a vertical called Seducing My Hockey Rival and we need to put respect on Cayman Cardiff’s name.
Rachel: I’m going to say Ella Bruccoleri in The Other Bennet Sister because her work on the entire series has been exceptional. Truly a star-making turn. She’s charming and so, so likeable as Mary, and the finale that aired this week hits so well because of all that Bruccoleri has delivered throughout the show.
Ashley W.: Milly Alcock does a great job in Supergirl of portraying a Kara Zor-El who is messy, lost, and grief-ridden but ultimately still a good person with values and compassion. The scene where she flies out into space just to yell is so good — and relatable. She captures the emotional range required of the role really well, and it’ll be great to see more of her Supergirl moving forward in the DCU! I also loved seeing Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marie Knoll, and she was an excellent complement to Alcock’s Kara.
Moment that Annoyed Us This Week
Raquel: Beau proposal on this week’s Brilliant Minds. It’s clear Josh still loves Oliver. Beau not only knows it, he can see it. Sometimes you just have to know when to let go.
Rachel: Seeing comments about Supergirl causing superhero fatigue. Funny how that tends to happen with female-led superhero movies but not other ones. *rolls eyes*
Ashley W.: Going off what Rachel said, all the chatter that Supergirl is a terrible movie is ridiculous. The bad reviews, especially the one from Variety, are absurd. It’s not a perfect film, nor is it the best superhero movie, but it’s not a disaster either. It’s a good movie that’s fun, driven by emotion, and makes Supergirl into her own character. Not everyone has to like it, but women-led superhero movies aren’t automatically bad just because they exist.
