If you, like us, watched Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay and cannot stop thinking about it, fear not. We might not be able to make the confirmed Season 2 of the show get here any faster, but we do have a list of shows you can watch if you want to visit other supernatural small towns.
Yes, it’s a thing. Trust us. And it’s probably a thing for a reason.
The list is endless, but we’ve picked five for you. A combination of the most well-known ones you absolutely cannot miss, and some more obscure ones you might not be aware of that scratch that itch for creepy, well-told stories.
Twin Peaks
Set in: Twin Peaks, Washington
The logline for the show reads: “An idiosyncratic FBI agent investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks.” And it’s basically that, with the town being almost a character. Think The X-Files, but without Monster-of-the-Week episodes and with an overarching arc that makes sense.

FROM
Set in: Never named, but fans have taken to calling it “Fromville”
One of the best shows you might not be watching, FROM‘s logline reads: “A town with a hidden secret experiences strange occurrences that intensify at night. Mysterious forces disrupt everyday routines as residents try to preserve stability and community while attempting to comprehend their surroundings.” If you like creepy stories and shows that make you think, this is the one for you.
FROM is available to stream on MGM+ and Fubo.
Dark
Set in: Winden, Germany
The logline for Dark reads: “A missing child sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers. Their search for a culprit unearths a small town’s sins and secrets.” If you like dark and twisty added to your creepy, this show is perfect for you. Fair warning, though, this isn’t a show you can watch on your phone. And not even because it’s originally in German. Even if you decide to watch it subbed, you really need to pay attention.
Dark is available to stream on Netflix.
Haven
Set in: Haven, Maine
The logline for the show reads: “FBI agent Audrey Parker tracks a federal prison escapee who mysteriously dies shortly after reaching his hometown of Haven, Maine.” This one’s more of a comfort creepy show, if such a thing exists. It does a good job of blending small-town crime procedurals with a show mythology that’s interesting to follow. Watch this one if you want cozy with the scary.

Hemlock Grove
Set in: Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania
The logline for the show reads: “A teenage girl is brutally murdered in the small Pennsylvania town of Hemlock Grove, where secrets lie, and the darkest evils hide in plain sight.” It’s more body horror and gothic fantasy than jump scares, so if you are not here for gruesome crimes and monster transformations, stay away. If you want a weird horror show, then this might be the one for you.

Ash vs. Evil Dead
Set in: Elk Grove, Michigan
The logline for the show reads “Thirty years after the events of Evil Dead, Ash is a loner, living a dull existence, still not able to come to grips with the events that started at the cabin.” So yes, this is a sequel to the original Evil Dead trilogy. Let’s keep that in mind. If you’ve watched those movies, this is the logical next step. If you haven’t, we recommend you go there first.
