Emily in Paris has been one of our favorite shows for a reason. We knew that it was far fetched, that marketing didn’t work that way, and that it was watching a dream versus reality. But that is the best kinds of television – an escape.
Emily in Paris restored a love of fandom. It made us think of moving to Paris or even just opening our hearts where we stood. Believing – that’s what Emily in Paris taught us. Emily in Paris reminded us to dream.
Lily Collins took to social media to say her goodbyes to the show, as she’s finished filming. She sat on a chair with the back saying “fin” as a nod to it being finished.
She started her post, “My last day on set as Emily…”
Not going to lie, tears filled our eyes over that sentence. There were emtoions that rose to the surface.
MORE TEARS
She continued, “I’m speechless. It’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me. For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me.”
She added, “Thank you, Darren Star, for dreaming up this endlessly optimistic American girl in Paris who finds herself constantly outside of her comfort zone, learning to trust herself while leaning on others as she navigates her new life. I’m so grateful you trusted me to bring her to life. Thank you to our unparalleled crew, our writers, our directors, and of course our incredible cast who is now family and who I cannot imagine this without. You have made Emily, Emily. You made this world feel like home. And merci to all of you who have been supporting us over these past 7 years and 6 seasons, keeping us inspired to dream bigger along our epic adventure.”
FOREVER
“I will carry this chapter with me forever. Saying goodbye feels completely surreal and bittersweet, but mostly, I feel so incredibly proud and grateful that I got to be her. And be part of something so joyful.” she said, “This has forever changed me.”
As we read the last sentence, we lost it again, “Au revoir, Emily Cooper…”
We’re going to miss Emily Cooper. We’re going to miss the entire cast of Emily in Paris, but can’t wait until it returns this December. We’ll be watching.
