NCIS: New York Season 1, Episode 2 ‘Family Business’ is our first normal case with this team, and that’s the first big test of how the chemistry between this ensemble actually works when there are no personal stakes in what they’re investigating. We’ve already seen Sam click with not just his original team in Los Angeles, but the team in Hawai’i and the NCIS team as well, so there’s no doubt he can do it. But can he do it well enough to make us want to come back week after week?
Plus, are the dynamics between the rest of the characters interesting enough? There was good setup there in the pilot, but a pilot is just a thesis for how a show can work. Now, the show has to work. This is where it all starts.
