So, Suits: LA is still a thing, and it now has three new victims cast members. In the latest round of “literally any of these people would be better stars for the series than That Man,” we have John Amos, Victoria Justice, and Kevin Weisman. Congratulations-slash-condolences to all of them, we guess. Anyway. What do we know so far? Let’s take a look.
John Amos is playing himself in the pilot, so after it’s over, we can literally say he played himself by taking this role. And it’s not the first time he’s done this for an NBC show either. Remember 30 Rock? The actor appeared as himself on that series, too. Gotta love consistency.
Next up, Victoria Justice. According to Deadline, “Justice is playing Dylan Pryor, a young movie star who’s confident and ambitious. She’s on the way up and looking to be represented by Ted.” Working with That Man doesn’t sound at all like “on the way up,” but sure. Snark aside, though, anyone who worked through that disgusting era at Nickelodeon can do WTFever she wants. Yes, even Suits: LA. Especially since Justice…seems excited about it. Good for her. Wish she could’ve worked with the superior (original) cast instead, though.
Last, but not least, there’s Kevin Weisman. He, like many others in SAG-AFTRA, spent time on the picket lines this past summer. You know, unlike That Man, who called striking “a reductive negotiating tactic,” then doubled down. Guess we’re still pretending that didn’t happen, though? Anyway. Weisman’s character is some guy who’s described (per the same article linked above) as “rich, powerful, and used to getting his way.” Also, something about a murder. Sounds very much like an Ava Hessington situation. Yay for originality, we guess.
At this point, anyone reading this is probably like “but why are you even commenting on this if you are clearly not looking forward to it.” Which, sure. Fair enough. That is a good question. A better question, though, remains what the actual can opener ritual was. Another one would be “why is this happening at all? Literally, who asked for it.” And, finally, perhaps the most important question: This is a thing NBC is really investing in, yet we’re still waiting for news on an Organized Crime renewal as of the time we’re BSing our way through this? Like, for real???
So, that’s that for now. We’ll probably be here with periodic updates on Suits: LA as they come.
