The quintessential 90’s actress was Rachel Leigh Cook. Shes All That was a movie that defined a generation and catapulted her to fame. We all knew her, know her, and love her.
We love her and are willing to overlook Josie and the Pussycats. Everyone makes mistakes.
What we don’t think that a movie based on her life will be a mistake because Rachel Leigh Cook is involved and we don’t think she’d let them tell her story wrong. There She Goes, is a feature film and is loosely based on Rachael Leigh Cook’s real-life experiences.
Cook will star in the movie, alongside Ghosts star Utkarsh Ambudkar and Party Down’s Ryan Hansen. In addition Lea DeLaria, Becky Ann Baker, Mark Linn-Baker, Sakina Jaffrey, and Alok Tewari were also cast.
The script comes from Charles Hood and Seth Goldsmith. It centers around Cooks character of Molly and Ambudkar’s character of Advay. The two were high school sweethearts and everyone thought that they would be together forever. That is until Molly was cast in There She Goes, which is the quitessential romcom of the 90’s. Little did they know how famous this movie would make her.
Advay didn’t follow her to Hollywood. He stayed behind and is running his parents bar in their hometown. It’s twenty-five years later. Molly’s still living it up in Hollywood, but she is cynical about love. She settles for the familiar and that is a relationship with Ezra (Hansen) a tech mogul.
When she comes home to plan a surprise anniversary party for her parents, she is forced to speak and interact with Advay for the first time since she left. The party being at his parents bar is a big catapult of that. The two are forced to interact and old feelings start to return. Molly becomes torn between the two of them – Advay and Ezra. Will Molly have her own romcom ending?
We can’t wait to see the movie. Production is underway in New York.
