In a show full of complex BAMF’s, Dolls is certainly one of them.
We got a chance to speak with Wynonna Earp‘s Shamier Anderson at San Diego Comic Con about Xavier Dolls, his feelings for Wynonna, and what’s to come for his character in season 2.
Dolls came off as a hardass since he stepped foot into Purgatory. He was there to do a job and was leaving no wiggle room for friendship, love, or tomfoolery. By the end of the season we saw that he was an “incredible multi-layered onion of a person.”
“He’s (Dolls) so complex in so many ways. From the beginning, to being extremely stoic, all the way up to him smiling midseason and laughing profusely with Doc Holiday in the interrogation scene, all the way up to the season finale when he kissed Wynonna.“
All of this shows that he’s a human being with emotions and the ability to connect with those around him. One of those people he formed a bond with was Wynonna. He gave her a chance to help the Black Badge without realizing that he was also giving her a chance to break down the walls he’d erected around himself.
When asked what made Wynonna different and how their relationship changed him, he said that the answer was self explanatory.
“It’s Wynonna Earp. You’ve seen her. The things she does to people is hard to articulate and I think she was definitely a force to be reckoned with when Agent Dolls came into Purgatory.”
Wynonna and everything she was, BAMF with a heart of gold out to save the people that didn’t care for her and rebuild her relationship with her sister, felt foreign to him.
“He tried to obviously play it cool. But he cracked. And I think that’s the first time Dolls has ever cracked, especially in a partnership, especially dealing with the task at hand. And that goes to show how amazing Ms. Earp is.”
