Ah, to be young and in love. And to write about your crushes in individually addressed love letters that you never intend to get released lest your life be ruined.
But what happens when those love letters are released and the boys you had crushes on — including your sister’s ex-boyfriend — suddenly know all of the feelings you’ve kept inside?
Welcome to Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the New York Times bestselling book that is making its way to Netflix this August. To All The Boys tells the story of Lara Jean, who has written love letters to her five crushes and suddenly those letters are released for all her crushes to see — without Lara Jean’s knowledge. There’s “Peter with the beautiful eyes, Kenny from camp, Lucas from homecoming, John Ambrose from Model UN, and Josh… the boy next door.” Lara Jean teams up with Peter to work through the aftermath of the letters being released, as well as the feelings that they bring to the forefront.
For those book fans who have already devoured Jenny Han’s novels, we’ve had a chance to screen the movie and, trust us, it does the books justice. It was magical from beginning to end. (Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky were everything!) We’re just sitting here waiting for the next two to get made. (Hi, Netflix!)
Watch the first trailer for To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and prepare for your next obsession! (And if you haven’t already, go read the book by Jenny Han, as well as the two sequels that follow it!)
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before hits Netflix on Friday, Aug. 17.
