With a new season of Supergirl comes a new suit for Kara Danvers. Say goodbye to the skirt and hello to the pants.
“Once you get a taste of the pants, there’s no going back,” Supergirl executive producer Sarah Schechter told us at San Diego Comic-Con.
With these comic book shows, you want to honor the source material, which Supergirl has done with Kara’s costume. But, just as she did in the comics, Kara graduates to a new pants suit this season, which is just so much more practical.
“Supergirl in that skirt is iconic and we wanted to do that,” Schechter said. “But I think as Kara has matured and evolved as the show has, we wanted to honor her evolution.”
It’s definitely a season of change. Not only is Supergirl getting a new suit, but Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist will make her directorial debut this season, which presents a new challenge. A challenge that she accepts.
“It’s equal parts excitement, nerves, a little bit of terror, which I think is a good thing,” she said. “You should continue to do things you are afraid of.”
