Jonah Hauer-King, do I know who you are? No. Am I about to know everything about you? Absolutely. Why? Because you have been cast as Prince Eric in the live-action, Little Mermaid.
Hauer-King’s screen test blew everyone else away and he has been cast opposite Halle Bailey, who is playing Ariel.
The live-action Little Mermaid will have songs by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, from the original 1989 film as well as brand new music. The film is being directed by Rob Marshall.
Previous credits for Hauer-King include BBC’s Little Women and the recent BBC miniseries, World on Fire.
Little Mermaid also stars Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Javier Bardem is circling as King Triton.
Production is anticipated to begin in early 2020.
