If you ask us, Langdon is one of those Pilots we’ll take a pass on, even though they haven’t even started filming. If we’re being honest, there doesn’t seem to be anything that would get us even remotely interested. After all, Tom Hanks played the role of Dan Brown’s quintessential white-male-savior know-it-all before, and we sure love Tom Hanks, but that was a pass for us too.
Basically, this is a bit like Taken, the series, in that you cannot really improve on the actor that first inhabited the role, and we don’t really care that much about the character to begin with, so yeah, no.
NBC, however, doesn’t agree with us, as they’ll go right ahead with filming this particular Pilot as soon as productions resume.
The show will follow the early adventures (pre-Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code) of Robert Langdon and will be based on Dan Brown’s third Langdon book The Lost Symbol.
Knowing the source material there’s sure to be lots of mystery only Langdon is smart enough to solve, a revolving door of female characters who are only around to make him feel smarter and a hell of a lot of inaccuracies when it comes to actual historical things.
God save us all.
