The Walking Dead fans who were eager to see what happens with the Whisperers and Caryl finally have their finale date for Season 10 – and news of bonus episodes!
Chris Hardwick led a Comic-con at Home panel for the entire The Walking Dead universe this week, and we didn’t realize just how much we missed these smiling faces (we’re talking about you, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride).
Here’s a rundown of the top news from the panel:
The Walking Dead
The show-runners released an extended clip of the long-awaited episode, which you can check out HERE. Yes, we see you Carol and Daryl, working together to kill that walker and shut the hospital door. Things look to be in dire straights for our crew, but also help seems to be on the way (yay for Maggie). Can we just say that Beta and the hoard are creepy AF? While the Whisperers have been the “big bad” storyline for a couple of seasons, they still manage to seem so terrifying us.
It’s unlikely the gang will be able to survive being surrounded in that building without much of a death count, but in a season where we’ve already lost several great characters – can they afford it? The episode is called “A Certain Doom,” and we will finally get to see it at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4.
But, fans got another surprise during the panel from showrunner Angela King. It turns out the season finale will not be the end of Season 10 after all. Six extra episodes will be added to the season and we will get to see them sometime in early 2021. This good news comes with a catch, however. Because of COVID-19, Season 11 will not premiere in its regular October timeslot.
While not the best news, we are all familiar with waiting by now. Our only request is to give us some Caryl goodness to feed our gif, art and fanfic needs while we wait.
Fear the Walking Dead
Fear the Walking Dead will take the October slot usually reserved for The Walking Dead this fall, premiering at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11.
You can check out the trailer released at the panel HERE. The tease of the season certainly does make us afraid, especially for the fate of wounded Morgan. As a panel in TWD universe, they aren’t going to kill him, are they? (Please, no).
This season will also see some of the cast directing episode, including Morgan himself, Lenny James with his directorial debut. Colman Domingo will direct his third episode this season as well.
There was more exciting news for Domingo, as his digital series Bottomless Pit was picked up for six more episodes. On the show, which can be found on The Walking Dead’s Youtube Channel or on AMC.com, features a 20-minute chat with the actor from his home. Fans get to see him connect with friends and family over virtual brunch. You can check out the first new episode on Aug. 23.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond
Fans got a taste of the new show entering The Walking Dead universe, World Beyond, with an extended trailer released during the Comic-con panel. You can watch the trailer HERE. It looks super good, and we can’t wait to see more about this series as the premiere gets closer. The show will air right after The Walking Dead, at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4. Then, Chris Hardwick and crew will chat about both shows in a special episode of the Talking Dead.
With so many things premiering in October, that month is going to keep The Walking Dead fans busy and happy. Well, hopefully happy, unless they kill off our faves.
