When it comes to reviving classic movies of the past, one of the best things you can do it try incorporate some of the big-name original actors in the new films. Which is exactly what Halloween did with Jamie Lee Curtis and what Scream is doing with Courteney Cox.
According to EW.com, Cox will be reprising her role as news reporter Gale Weathers in the upcoming fifth installment of the Scream franchise. She’ll join her ex-husband David Arquette, who was previously announced as reprising his role as Dewey Riley in the franchise. Neve Campbell has hinted that she’ll also be reprising her role of Sydney Prescott, although it’s not confirmed.
“We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney,” Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett known as Radio Silence in a statement. “We’re absolute mega fans of her work and we’re so excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!”
Principal photography on the film will take place in Wilmington, N.C.
