There’s nothing like the nostalgia of one of your favorite television shows to wrap you up like a nice, warm blanket. That’s always been Friends for me. Friends remains the show that I’ll put on to cheer me up or when I just need a good laugh.
It might’ve been 16 years since the series finale, Friends remains a show that resonates with viewers — old and new. While you can definitely sense a difference of the times, Friends still has an impact because of the chemistry between the six leads, which made the show special.
And to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, there was a plan to hold a reunion special — not revival (I know, I’m bummed too) — that featured the original cast. The original plan was to premiere it with HBO Max’s launch. But those plans were scrapped with the COVID-19 outbreak.
While there weren’t any announcements about it being rescheduled, it sounds like the plan is to film in early 2021. According to Matthew Perry, the Friends reunion special will film in early March.
“Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March,” Perry tweeted “Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!”
The unscripted reunion special will feature Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Courteney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matt LeBlanc (Joey), Matthew Perry (Chandler) and David Schwimmer (Ross) and series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.
While it’s not the revival we might’ve been hoping for, this Friends fan is excited for another excuse to binge watch the series ahead of the reunion special.
If everything goes as planned, we could see this Friends reunion special in the spring.
