Law and Order fans of the world rejoice, have we got some news for you! We finally know when Elliott Stabler is returning to our televisions. Last March, we reported on Christopher Melonis return to the SVU-verse. At that time we had no idea what the Dick Wolf series would be called and now we have that and a release date.
The series is titled Law and Order: Organized Crime and we’ve got the synopsis below:
Christopher Meloni, reprising his role as Elliot Stabler, returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. However, the city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he’s been away, and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning. Stabler will aim to find absolution and rebuild his life while leading an elite new task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful crime syndicates one by one.
We’re already excited for this show. The first episode premieres April 1st and will be part of a 2-hour crossover that will see wait for it… Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Meloni) reunited! ahhh so exciting!!!!
Last month Mariska and Christopher teased us with a few on set photos.
We’ve got a lot of emotions right now. These two worked together for 12 seasons! from 1999-2011. That is a long run so we are in our feels big time.
Here’s just a few things we’re looing forward to when Law & Order: Organized Crime premieres.
- What’s that opening theme going to be like? Obviously it’s going to end with the classic “dun dun” but we’re going to have a new one to learn.
- The Benson/Stabler reunion DUH!
- We are super anxious about who the “devastating personal loss” involves. Is it one of Stablers kids? His wife?? WHO??????
- The new crew dynamic, because sometimes Stabler doesn’t play well with others.
- We can’t wait to see who Dylan McDermott and Tamara Taylor will play. Which one is going to be Stabler’s partner? We hope it’s Tamara.
- More Stabler bad-assery. Yeah we know that’s not a word and we also know sometimes Stabler’s methods are…unconventional, but we can’t wait to see what he’s like this time around. And we can’t wait to see the show remember the times we live in, and how that must affect how shows, especially cop shows, handle things.
- More crossovers of course. We hope this isn’t just a one-off and we hope we see Fin (Ice-T) get in on the action with Benson and Stabler like old times too.
Law & Order: Organized Crime premieres April 1st on NBC.
