‘Big Sky’ episode 1X09 “Let it Be Him,” did not pull any punches and it was action filled from the start. Let’s discuss.
Too Much To Do

Ronald has got too much to do. People are out looking for the newspaper boy Erik who he kidnapped in ‘Big Sky’ 1X08: “The End is Near,” and of course there is the matter of the dead Priest and his mom too. The bodies are piling up and it’s getting harder and harder for him to stay hidden. It gets even worse when Cassie shows up at his doorstep with a photo of Erik in hand. He tries to play the innocent neighbor guy but, as Cassie leaves she remembers that she’s seen him before and that he looks vaguely like the sketch they’ve been working with to try and find him. It’s safe to say, things are not going well for him now.
Thank God for Jerrie

Seriously, Grace and Jerrie have been some badasses since ‘Big Sky’ started and they are my favorites. Had it not been for Jerrie, Cassie and Jenny would still be trying to figure out who Ricks accomplice was. Because of Jerrie’s positive identification of Ronald on his moms social media account, they can now go out and bring him in and rescue Erik.
A Diversion

After Jerrie positively identifies Ronald as Ricks accomplice, Cassie, and Jenny along with Commander Sosa and Sheriff Tubbs get together to bring him in. They show up at Ronald’s place and things don’t go well. Like we have always said, Ronald is smart and always one step ahead. He has set numerous traps around the house including using his dead mother as a decoy to fool the police into thinking that they have found Erik in the basement.
Jenny nearly risks her life trying to rescue who she thought was Erik which if we’re being honest, didn’t the body feel a little stiff? Ronald’s mom has been dead for a few days and she’s been in a freezer. Maybe Jenny should check who she’s trying to rescue next time because it turns out it was all for nothing and created a diversion allowing Ronald the chance to get away.
She Married The Fly

Well, ‘Big Sky’ always knows how to go out with a bang with unexpected twists. At the beginning of ‘Big Sky’ “Let it Be Him,” Rick has a dream about all the innocent girls he has hurt. Merrilee just happens to be in the room and hears him apologizing. She tries to find out who he is apologizing to but, he says he doesn’t know. Rick continues to say he doesn’t remember anything but Merrilee is not so sure that’s true. She knows her husband and all of his tells. One in particular is his hand movement when he’s telling a lie. As he’s asked about Ronald by his attorney, he denies knowing him and Merrilee watches his reaction. She knows he is not being truthful.
All through ‘Big Sky’ “Let it Be Him,” Merrilee has flashbacks of all the songs Rick would sing around the house. Two songs in particular stick out to her; “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly,” which he would sing when he had a problem to solve and “If I had a hammer.”
She puts two and two together and pays him a visit at the hospital again. This time she attempts to jog his memory by reminding him of the songs so she can get a reaction out of him and she does. Merrilee goes on to remind him of the night he stood over their bed with a hammer in his hand. She makes it clear that she knows the night he did that, he was planning to kill her. Merrilee then pulls the hammer out of her purse and well, she beats him to death with it. We did not see that coming.
Erik Is Found

We are so glad they didn’t drag Eriks kidnapping out any further because it was hard seeing Ronald treat him so bad. After Ronald escapes with him, they drive down the highway with the Police hot on their tales. He’s riding around in the Priests Tesla and Cassie and Jenny finally catch up to them only to discover Ronald is not in the car but Erik is and it’s on autopilot with the dead Priest behind the wheel.
Cassie and Jenny let Commander Sosa and Sheriff Tubbs know as they fly overhead in a helicopter. Commander Sosa tells them the only way to stop the Tesla is to get in front of it and that’s just what Cassie does. It works and Erik is safely rescued and returned to his mom Rachel. The only thing that would have made this even better was if Cassie and Jenny had also caught Ronald too.
