We have finally reached the season finale of Big Sky. Episode 1×16: “Love is a strange and dangerous thing,” was a little on the slow side for me, but the final moments had me on the edge of my seat. Since everything else basically felt a bit like filler for me, I’m just going to unpack the biggest part of the episode.
Bonnie and Clyde 2.0

So it looks like Ronald and Scarlet have become the new Bonnie and Clyde. Big Sky episode 1×15: “Bitter Roots” ended with Marshall Lindor and Jerrie storming into the house of Scarlet’s sister to bring Ronald in, and that’s where episode 1×16: “Love is a strange and dangerous thing” picks up. As Jerrie and Lindor make their way through the house, Ronald and Scarlet strategize and he gives her some detailed instructions. Scarlet is to look for a hard drive that’s taped under the bathroom sink, then call up some dude named John Milton and say “I ate the fruit.”
We’ve said time and time again that Ronald is always one step ahead and he’s smarter than people think. He and Scarlet trick Jerrie and Lindor into thinking she was being held hostage by Ronald and it works. Ronald is brought in for questioning and so is Scarlet. Now, let me just say I am so disappointed in Cassie, Jenny, and Lindor for believing that fake ass bitch Scarlet. She and Ronald came up with a plan to say that he killed Steve, and she was literally emotionless when they told her they thought that Ronald may have done something to Mary.

Cassie and Lindor had previously gone to Mary’s house and found Steve’s body in her basement freezer. They never said how long his body had been down there, but it makes ZERO sense that Ronald would have killed him, like I mean none! I will give props to Jenny for saying that she needs to be investigated, though.
Denise and Jerrie do a deep dive into Scarlet’s life, or rather, they try to but come up empty. Her records have been completely sealed and the ladies learn that she was in a facility for the criminally insane. Now it all makes sense, because that girl is a cuckoo bird especially for staying with, and helping Ronald.
While Ronald is being questioned about Mary, he fills Cassie, Jenny, and Lindor in on some more information. He tells them they can find two girls for the price of one and writes the name Kelli in blood. I can’t remember which episode of Big Sky mentioned Kelli but I was curious to know who she is. Cassie, Jenny, and Lindor really don’t want to play Ronald’s games but they agree to let him take them to Kelli in the hopes that it will also lead them to Mary.
Meanwhile, Scarlet is back at home doing all of the things Ronald instructed her to. Some creepy Sheriff, yup there’s another one, shows up and takes the hard drive and Scarlet to a drop spot where she is supposed sit in a van and wait to meet up with Ronald. See, he’s always a step ahead. What’s honestly so insane to me is how much Scarlet is willing to give up for Ronald. She calls up strangers, lets them come into her house, and take her to strange places, where they proceed to break her cellphone. What is so appealing about Ronald Pergman????
When Cassie, Jenny, and Lindor make it to the spot where Kelli is, they discover a weird room he has set up with her decomposing body wrapped up, surrounded by a bunch of old cakes. I’m glad they were able to find one of the girls he killed but clearly this is a trick and a way to buy him some time. Cassie and Lindor are riding in the car with Ronald when they get into a bad car accident and get ambushed by some random guys in a tow truck.

Jenny, who is riding in the car with Sheriff Tubbs, hops out and immediately gets into a shootout with the random guys, and is shot. I’m not talking just a little graze wound, she’s shot like we might lose her. Cassie is freaking out because she’s got nobody to help her. They’re in the middle of the highway and both Tubbs and Lindor are injured inside of their vehicles. While this is all happening, Ronald manages to escape, surprise, surprise, NOT. He meets up with Scarlet and is given items to start a new life, which obviously does not include her daughter Phoebe.
Scarlet was under the impression she would be able to go back and get Phoebe but “that’s not possible,” the rando dude driving the van tells her. She goes into a panic and I was watching, I couldn’t help but think, did you really believe your daughter was going to be able to go with you? You’re dating a sex-trafficking murderer who is on the run. Ya can’t just show up to Phoebes school to pick her up. Maybe Scarlet should have thought about all this shit before she chose to do Ronald’s bidding.
Ronald can’t bear to see Scarlet upset about not being able to go back for Phoebe so they kill the rando, and dump his body on the side of the road then take off in the van like a happy couple, probably headed to pick up Phoebe. Sheriff Tubbs and Jenny are being prepped for transport to the hospital. As Cassie tries to hop in and go with Jenny, she stops her and tells her “Get him,” meaning Ronald. Cassie grabs a gun, another Sheriff’s car and takes off to chase Ronald.
The season finale of Big Sky wasn’t as exciting as I hoped it would be and it just left us with something similar to where we were before with Ronald still being on the run. I hope when the show comes back it doesn’t spend another season hunting him down.
Other Things

- Jerrie being the one to get the drop on Ronald when he thought he was about to escape Mary’s house was an EPIC moment.
- “Miss me?”
- The Kleinsasser’s really didn’t even need to be in this episode. For real, Margaret could have killed Horst in episode 1×15: Bitter Roots.”
- Love that Jerrie said she was going to call Grace and Danielle to let them know Ronald had been captured.
- Jenny’s heart to heart with her son.
- “We’re all strangers, even to ourselves.”
- I don’t blame Jenny for saying no one was eating the cupcakes Cheyenne dropped off. I would have said the same thing.
- Phoebe knows “Arthurs” secret so I wonder what’s going to happen with that. She’s clearly terrified of him so why the hell would Scarlet want that man in her child’s life?
- Legarski has a twin??????? What? and please, please don’t bring him in the show.
- Is Marshall Lindor dead?? we only saw Sheriff Tubbs and Jenny being prepped for transport, I need answers!
