We’re ready to review Lucifer again, Lucifans! After the review and 5 scenes you can’t miss from the previous episode, it is time to review Lucifer 5×14 “Nothing Lasts Forever,“ an episode that made us cry, laugh, enjoy and, above all, confirm that only love lasts forever.
Here we go!
I loved the scene between God and Ella. I just loved it. She is worried about her dark side. Ella can’t help but wonder what’s wrong with her, being drawn to these kinds of dark men. Also, what Pete said left its mark on her: “There is darkness in you, Ella.”
My baby… my baby has to realize that Pete manipulated her and the man who attracted her is who he pretended to be and yes, she has darkness, as we all do. I want to hold her tight and never let her go.
But Ella can’t … Ella just believes she’s so dark that she’s beyond redemption, beyond being a good person. But what happens is that light doesn’t shine without darkness and the deeper the darkness, the brighter the light. God himself says this to Ella… it is… incredible, perfect and such a beautiful detail.
God was always listening to her, he was always her refuge, even in the worst moments and that God in person is saying to her “everything is fine, you are one of the best people and your light is incandescent” fits in such a wonderful way … although Ella does’t know that he’s God. But she feels a special connection with him, like a calm in his presence and his words give her peace, a peace that she had not felt in a long time.

It is a scene that you do not expect to happen and this is one of the things that I love the most about Lucifer Season 5B, it gives us these kinds of unexpected but necessary scenes, in fact, we don’t know how much we need them until we see them and they are a wonderful gift.
In Lucifer 5×14 “Nothing Lasts Forever” Lucifer is determined to be God … for all the wrong reasons. His determination to be God stems from his feeling that he is not worthy of Chloe. He feels the need to be something else to deserve her love. He feels that he didn’t earn Chloe’s love and why would a person as bright as her love someone as damaged as him? He needs to show her that he is worthy of her love but, more than that, he needs to prove it to himself.
And who would be more deserving of Chloe’s love than God? That is why when he feels this possibility escaping from his hands he feels that everything collapses. If he can’t be God, he can’t earn the right to love Chloe and he will never be that man she deserves. The feeling of unworthiness will never go away. And here I want to hug and hit Lucifer in equal measure.
I want to hold him tight to make him understand that he doesn’t need to be anything or anyone else, Chloe loves him as he is, because of who he is. And he earned that love, he deserves it. He deserves to be loved and that there is no one who knows how to love more than him, because he loves with everything, he gives everything for those he loves. And I want to hit him for the same reason, so that he can wake up and realize it at once.
As for Chloe, she is not sure about all of this. If Lucifer is God, where does she fit? She doesn’t feel like she fits in. or that Lucifer is going to have time for her relationship. She is afraid that the relationship she has with Lucifer will be diluted between the responsibilities that it would entail for him to be God and she would simply… cease to exist in his life and that would destroy them. Her fears are confirmed when Chloe thought they were going on a date… and suddenly it turns into a double date.

Chloe doesn’t need God, she needs Lucifer next to her. She doesn’t care about everything else, she doesn’t need anything else. If only our silly little devil realized …
Speaking of God, Lucifer 5×14 “Nothing Lasts Forever” gave us a new perspective on his relationship with Lucifer. Throughout the entire episode, Lucifer was trying to make his retirement enjoyable, and thanks to that, we met Lucifer and Amenadiel’s siblings.
Here I have to stop for a moment to ask if it is normal that I like none of them? I think so, what do you think? Only we can mess with Lucifer and want to kill him, but if someone else touches him … we will have a problem – picking up arms, ready to fight.
I love that Lucifer thought of getting his father his own Decker. He found happiness and love with Chloe, why not repeat the play with his father? But God doesn’t need that. At all times, Lucifer thought about how he could make him happy without hearing what he would really make him happy.
So when he comes to this conclusion, he does something for his father for the first time … and brings his mother back so that they have the opportunity to meet again and fix things, to close that chapter of their lives. He brings his mother back and everything is so special that it is impossible not to get emotional. But what really breaks us completely in this scene from Lucifer 5×14 “Nothing Lasts Forever” is the last part.

God decides to continue with his plan and retire, it is time for him to be next to his wife while she governs her own universe, but first, he wants to acknowledge to Lucifer that he was not a good father, that he loves him and that he is proud of him.
We are crying like mourners. This, just this is what Lucifer always needed. For his father to simply tell him that he loves him just the way he is. And that he is proud of the man he became. Lucifer… Lucifer doesn’t want his father to leave, not now that he feels they can build a relationship.
He never wanted him to leave, a part of him despised him but most of him always loved him and always needed him there, in the distance, so that he could continue to despise him, continue to pretend that he hated him, but that he was there. Having to say goodbye to his father now when he feels that he finally found him is ripping him in two.
But it’s time for God to make his own decisions now. He was not a good father but he let Lucifer make his own decisions. This is key because what God told Lucifer still stands, he cannot fix him. It has to be Lucifer who does it, the one who realizes that he, by himself, is worthy of the love people have for him, that he earned it.
I love the way Lucifer, despite suffering, thinks of Amenadiel first. He knows that Amenadiel also needs to hear the same from the mouth of his father, that he needs to know that despite everything that happened, God never felt that Amenadiel failed him. Lucifer here puts Amenadiel ahead of himself.
And the way Amenadiel says goodbye to his mother. He always felt guilty about what happened and he needed this, he needed her to tell him that everything is fine and that he did the best he could, that he always does and that makes a difference. When his mother approaches Lucifer, that touch and their eyes say it all.
That heartfelt embrace between parents and children has me dry with so many tears and the last caress of God to Lucifer … I’m a mess. Nothing last forever. Except love. Lucifer 5×14 “Nothing Lasts Forever” is proof of that.
Now, amid so many tears, I still have time to make a face of indignation to God for not having chosen a successor.
Chloe and Dan’s scene gives me life. Think about where they started and where they have arrived. They have a nice friendship. They will always be united by Trixie but they knew how to forgive each other, to overcome what they had and to be the best friends, to be there for each other and I love to see this. I love watching them like this, being honest and open with each other and supporting each other in everything.

I was proud of Dan. Look where our baby is, unfazed by the news of Lucifer being God, he even agrees and it seems like a good idea for him. Of course, our baby grew up. And I like this point of view from Dan. Lucifer understands the evils of the world in a different way and he can become a good God, you just have to give him a chance – this also fills me with pride, Dan started hating Lucifer and look at him now.
Chloe is sure that Lucifer can do it, but where will she be? She does not feel there is room for her in Lucifer’s life once he becomes God. And here Dan becomes Deckerstar’s savior for all time. Lucifer is mad in love for her and she loves him, they will solve whatever issues, because there is nothing they cannot solve, that they cannot overcome. Together. And here we already take the handkerchief and we start crying in a corner. Dan is absolutely right. If anyone can, it is them.
And it must not be easy for Dan to say this. Chloe was his wife and loved her so much … it couldn’t have to be easy to see how she fell in love with another person and accept that fact, be at peace with it and accept that Lucifer is the love of Chloe’s life as he never was. But there he is. Chloe will always be an important person in his life and the mother of his daughter, he only wants her to be happy and he knows that her happiness is with Lucifer.
Chloe and her mother managed to clarify some important things in Lucifer 5×14 “Nothing Lasts Forever.” All this time, Chloe resented her mother because she blamed her for her father not advancing in his police career. More than that, Chloe couldn’t help but think that if he had been promoted, he would not have been on the streets that night and would still be alive. However, he chose not to do this to to help Penelope fulfill her dreams.
But sometimes things are not as they seem. Penelope and Chloe’s father had ambitions and dreams and they did not want one of them to have to leave them for the other, that would only have poisoned their relationship and their marriage, so they reached an agreement … only that Chloe’s father was murdered before that he could fulfill his dreams. And that’s not Penelope’s fault, just the killer’s.
Penelope let her daughter blame her if she needed it, it hurts but she understood. But not anymore. She can’t keep letting her get such a wrong impression of things and let her keep resenting for something that is not true. Chloe is shocked at this revelation. She did not expect her mother to have given up her career for her father.
But that’s what you do when you love someone: you commit and give space for both of you to fulfill your dreams.

This leads Chloe to finally begin to understand her mother and improve the relationship – another tear escaped me, I will not deny it, Penelope always loved her daughter even though she did not know how to show it. Also, it makes her think of Lucifer and her.
He plans to be God and that is not a trivial thing. She feels that Lucifer’s position can separate them, but what if it wasn’t like that? What if… she could be with him every step of the way? For that it would be necessary for her to leave the police but Lucifer has been with her, helping her and supporting her dreams for 5 years, maybe it is time for her to do the same, even if it means letting go of her other great love, sometimes the priorities in our life must change.
I have to say that a part of me turns to this idea of Chloe leaving the police. It’s like we’re going back to the eternal debate at the end of Friends in which Rachel leaves her dream job in Paris to stay with Ross in New York. So a part of me is uncomfortable with this decision but another big part of me understands her and understands that in a couple, both must commit and Lucifer has always been there for her and now it is Chloe’s turn to do it.
At the end of the episode, we discover that Michael continues with his plan and that his ally is … Gabriel, one of Lucifer’s sisters. And if I already don’t like her, now I hate her. I want to kick her gossipy ass. How can she prefer the manipulative jerk Michael to Lucifer? For me, the only sister Lucifer and Amenadiel have is named Remiel. I said what I said.
