Lucifer Season 5B is now a reality! As you already have the review, we’re going to sit here to choose 5 scenes that you can’t miss from each episode — well, 6 scenes this time but don’t tell Lizzie — either because they are essential for the development of the episode or because they’re the ones we like the most because, after all, this is our list. It’s the turn of Lucifer 5×15 “Is This Really How It’s Going To End?!.”
“TELL ME IT IS NOT TRUE”

Goddness, this scene broke me into a thousand pieces and broke me again. It’s so … painful, heartbreaking. The way Trixie knows when she asks, the way her voice breaks, the way Chloe takes a deep breath, trying to prepare herself, staring at her with all the pain her eyes can muster.
I can’t watch this scene without crying. I can not. The denial phase begins in Trixie the moment Chloe tells her. “Tell me it’s not true, tell me it’s not true.” Trixie screams, “IT IS NOT TRUE!” And after, her she has the courage, the strength to go to Maze, hug her, comfort her. It’s not true, it’s not true, it’s not true …
It is a mantra, a prayer that she repeats to herself. She is negotiating here, “don’t worry Maze, it’s not true, everything will be fine, you’ll see.” She is saying it to Maze but in reality she is not saying it to her, but to herself. And then comes the depression. She goes to Lucifer, the only one who she knows won’t lie, the only one who can tell her the truth, the only one who can make her stop denying, the only one who can make her finally start to accept it.
The way Lucifer’s voice is broken here, the way he wants so badly to tell her that it’s all a macabre joke, that Dan is still alive and will get out of this, that she doesn’t have to grow up without a father … but he can’t do it. Because it would be a lie. If Lucifer could change this, he would pay the price and he would, whatever it was.
Then, totally broken in pain, totally torn in two, Trixie returns to Chloe’s arms. Acceptance arrives. It’s true, her father left … and he’s not coming back.
We have the five phases of grief in just a few seconds. The emotion and delicacy with which this scene is shot, the way in which the actors give their absolute best. It is a silent scene, as it begins, only Trixie’s crying and desperate screams are heard and never silence, never the cry that breaks it, never a plea that dies on her lips resounded so thunderously.
“ALL OF THEM”

Lucifer is willing to collect all the favors, absolutely all, to find Dan and to avenge him. There is no way we can believe that he doesn’t know how to love. It’s here, in all of this. He and Maze made those who murder Dan pay. There were no doubts here, there were no regrets, they paid in blood. And it was absolutely satisfying.
This scene is like BOOM! After so many tears we needed this, we needed this revenge, we needed to see blood … and blood is what they give us. We are not psychopaths or anything but we end up with a satisfying smile through our tears watching this.
“LET’S GO TO WAR”

The scene between Lucifer and Linda. One of my top not only in this 5 scenes you can’t miss list, but of the whole show. Lucifer, a man we know being self-centered, literally says “my feelings don’t matter.” Chloe’s, Trixie’s feelings matter, not his. It matters that they are suffering. It matters Dan shouldn’t have died.
He doesn’t matter. Dan’s murder really affected him. He appreciated Dan, he loved him. Yes, he liked to rile him up a bit but he really respected and admired him. He was his friend … and he’s dead. And Trixie has to grow up without a father, Trixie cries herself to sleep because he’s dead, Chloe suffers because Dan is not coming back.
The system is corrupt, the system is sick … the system needs to be broken down and rebuild itself. And he’s going to do it. Now being God to feel worthy of Chloe seems so selfish to him … he wants to be God to end all suffering but … isn’t that, as Eve reflected, what makes us cherish the good times? Isn’t that what makes us live every second as if it were the last?
It’s heartbreaking, it’s horrible, it’s … terrible, but suffering, sometimes, is necessary for everything to feel real.
This scene also breaks me. I really feel the anger, the pain of Lucifer in his voice as he turns up the volume. He ends up screaming and almost scaring Linda when he slams on the table. Why so much suffering? It’s unfair, it doesn’t make sense. And he’s right … just sometimes suffering gives meaning to good times and makes us remember them with a smile, makes us appreciate them.
“WHY ARE YOU REALLY DOING THIS?”

Deckerstar scene! Chloe is a goddess – pun intended. I love her. I LOVE HER. She can’t believe that Lucifer doesn’t feel worthy of her, that after everything she’s done, everything they’ve been through, everything they’ve suffered, he still has doubts about how she feels about him. About them.
It seems so selfish to her that all this is simply being done out of Lucifer’s insecurity. Yeah, maybe he doesn’t deserve to be God. It’s a hard blow for Lucifer, it’s like a slap … but one that he needed to wake up. He is being selfish about this.
If he still hasn’t realized that Chloe loves him, if he still doesn’t feel worthy … it’s that he doesn’t know her, it’s that he doesn’t believe in them and after everything they’ve lived through … it’s absolutely silly not to.
But it’s what Lucifer feels. He can’t control how he feels but it’s time for him to wake up and realize some things. It’s time for him to fix his shit and grow up because this is not a game. These words from Chloe are the perfect awakening for him. It was just what he needed.
“TELL TRIXIE I LOVE HER”

NOOOOO! Dan, no. No no no no. No, please no. It’s just … I love Dan, I want him back! This can’t be happening. He doesn’t deserve it. You know what? Contrary to what has been happening in Lucifer Season 5B, I agree with my partner Lizzie about Dan: he is the most human character and that, sometimes, makes it difficult to love him but he is also the character with whom we can identify more.
Dan made a lot of mistakes, human mistakes and that made it difficult for us to love him at first but little by little he won us over and we were able to put ourselves in his place more than once. That’s why this scene broke me so much. It’s certainly one of the 5 scenes you can’t miss. But it’s so … it’s just that it breaks you, it breaks you in a way that you don’t know how but something about you goes with Dan, something about you stays with him and doesn’t come back.
We are all Chloe, crying with Dan’s body in her arms, praying that he lives, praying that he is okay, trying to convince us that he will be. And when Dan mentions Trixie, he takes us directly to that scene of the two of them together, laughing, playing … and it breaks us more to know that never going to happen again.
This episode, this scene, always makes me cry. Every time. And I would not have it any other way. I just hope that Dan, sooner or later, finds the peace and happiness that he deserves with Charlotte. There is no one who deserves it more than him.
“HER NAME IS CHLOE DECKER!”

Tell him, Lucifer! Funny how Lucifer misunderstands everything. That seer told him that he had to focus on his strong points, but that strong point was never desires, if not sincerity. Being honest about why he’s really doing this, about his feeling of unworthiness and self-loathing, about his love for Chloe Decker, a human.
I love the way Lucifer is proud to love Chloe, to love a human and has no problem proclaiming it in front of his angel brothers, who despise humans. The way his voice goes up an octave when he yells it out. He loves her, he loves her so much that it hurts, he loves her so much that he cannot bear not being worthy of her, he loves her so much that he is terrified that one day she will wake up and find out that he deserves someone better. He loves her so much that he would die and kill for her.
He loves her so much that he will not allow anyone to corner her or consider her an object, a gift, as if she were worthless. He loves her so much that she is going to fight every day to show her that and live up to her.
And these are the 5 scenes that you can’t miss from Lucifer 5×15 “Is This Really How It’s Going To End?!.” Stay tuned for the 5 scenes you can’t miss from episode 16 that we will publish tomorrow.
