Anything that Rebecca Serle writes, I will read. She writes books that make you feel hope, love, and make you feel alive. She’s a wordsmith and this is a hill that I will die on.
Her book, When You Were Mine, is being adapted to film, with Kaitlyn Dever set to star as Rosaline. When You Were Mine (the adaptation is entitled Rosaline), it’s the story of Romeo and Juliet told from Rosaline’s point of view. Only Rosaline is Romeo’s ex, and what starts out with her wanting to win back her ex, becomes about Rosaline’s growth and self discovery and changes to her wanting to get the star-crossed lovers back together.
Like we’ve said before, we always love anything and everything that is a variation or stems from “the most famous love story ever told.” Love story and comes from the genius mind that is Rebecca Serle? Yes please.
There has been an addition the cast, Isabella Merced has been cast as Juliet in the 20th Century adaptation. The movie will be directed by Karen Maine, with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen producing.
Rosaline was originally at MGM, but when it hit the market 20th Century. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber penned the script for the adaptation.
Isabella is currently filming Warner Bros’ new Father of the Bride. We’re excited to see her in Rosaline.
Have you read When You Were Mine? If not be sure to pick it up and read it. It’s a great book.
