Some people don’t like ships. Or, at least, they think we shouldn’t focus so much on ships. Life is more than romance, after all! I feel kind of sad for those people, not because they’re not right in the fact that life is more than ships, but because they a) think we didn’t know that, and b) think we shouldn’t enjoy what we enjoy so we can pretend to exist in some moral high ground.
But no, that’s not us. We enjoy the things we enjoy, and we do it loudly. And one of the things we enjoy and some people seem to have a problem with lately is New Amsterdam‘s Sharpwin. So, of course, that just makes us want to celebrate them more.
Today we’re doing it in one of the best ways we know how. With fanfic! Yes, that’s right, I stayed up and read a bunch of Sharpwin fic just so I could come here and recommend my favorites. It’s a hard job, but someone had to do it.
Without further ado, here they are …7 Sharpwin fics to celeberate the ship:
and it’s sequel
Domestic fluff is one of my favorite genres of fic, I swear. This fic follows Max and Helen after 3×14, and it does so in such a great way, because even though it is fluffy, it doesn’t just stay in the good moments. It’s the after, with the good and the bad and the happy and the family moments. So, basically, it’ll make you smile without feeling like it’s unbelievable.
This is basically what happened after the door closed in the season finale, except it’s more poetic than anything. I love these type of fics, because they do such a great job of exploring the feelings of the moment, and doing so in a way that almost feels like someone is whispering sweet nothings in your ear.
This one’s pre-finale, but absolutely worth it because this is literally what we all wanted to see before we got the finale and were pretty satisfied with what we got. Not sure I would trade it, but I still love to explore ways Max actually managed to put words into actions at some point before the last seconds of the season finale.
This is less Sharpwin and more Max’s POV of their relationship, but it’s still nice to go on the journey with him as he finally figures out not just what’s best for him, but most importantly, what he actually wants, deep down.
This one’s as much Luna and Helen as it’s Helen and Max, and it works in that perfect way that’s just …the natural progression of things, considering the characters we know and the storylines we’ve seen from them. Also, Helen Sharpe deserves the world, okay? The world.
I know, I know, this one’s a WIP, but it’s not the kind you’re gonna hate me for recommending because it just works, even if there’s never another chapter added to it. Though, honestly, I’d take 15 more chapters, because when I like something, I always want more of it.
New Amsterdam will return to NBC next month.
