When it comes to Dear Evan Hansen, there are a lot of varying opinions. But personally, we love the play so much.
And we love the music. While we’re listened to the Broadway Original Cast Soundtrack so many times, one thing about the movie that we’ve been excited for is the music sung by the cast.
And the first two songs from the movie soundtrack have been released. And we have to say, the songs are BEAUTIFUL.
“Waving Through a Window” and “You Will Be Found” are the first two songs released. Singing alongside Ben on “You Will Be Found” are co-stars Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Isaac Powell, Liz Kate, DeMarius Copes, and Hadiya Eshe.
“It was so special to revisit these meaningful songs that have been such a big part of my life over the past several years, and I’m beyond excited for everyone to hear this amazing cast’s take on the material, especially the two new fantastic additions! Fans of the beautiful Original Broadway Cast Album are going to love listening to all the faves on this soundtrack.” Ben Platt said in a statement.
If you aren’t familiar with Dear Evan Hansen here’s the synopsis, “The breathtaking, generation-defining Broadway phenomenon becomes a soaring cinematic event as Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt reprises his role as an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age.“
Dear Evan Hansen stars six-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams, Oscar® winner Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart), Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Colton Ryan (Apple TV+’s Little Voice), Nik Dodani (Netflix’s Atypical), DeMarius Copes (Broadway’s Mean Girls) and Danny Pino (NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).
The 16 song soundtrack will be available on September 24th.
We’ve been spoiled with film adaptations of musicals over the last year, so how are we feeling about this one? Let us know in the comments or on social media!
