Sometimes when Big Sky airs, things happen so fast, it’s like they’re trying to cram everything in one. With the constant breaks in between episodes, which I am not complaining about, its no surprise the amount of stuff there is in an episode. In this week’s episode of Big Sky “Heart-Shaped Charm,” we were in everyone’s world, but it also seemed like we got a lot more of Stone than we have in previous ones.
Just to catch you up, in ‘Big Sky’ 2×05 “Mother Nurture” it ended with Cassie, and Jenny in a standoff with Dietrich, his nephew Smiley, and Stone who had just told Dietrich that both women are cops. Max went to her mom and told her about the crime she witnessed as well as her decision to take the drugs and drug money from the crime scene.
That pretty much sums it up so let’s get into the review of Big Sky 2×06 “Heart-Shaped Charm.
Travis is In trouble
Like I said, Travis is in a lot of trouble. After the standoff, which Jenny and Cassie make it out of thanks to a security camera that kept Dietrich from killing them, he meets up with Jenny. Travis lets Jenny know they have to stop seeing each other because she is going to blow his cover. The standoff moment was too close a call and he can’t risk being found out. Its frustrating to me that Jenny cannot seem to grasp that. She’s a cop and Travis is a cop. He’s on assignment and so is she. I would think that she would understand how risky it is for her to keep showing up wherever he is.
Travis turns out to be right. Dietrich’s nephew Smiley doesn’t trust Travis, so he’s been keeping a close eye on him, and he catches him talking to Jenny. Smiley now has something on Travis, and he doesn’t hesitate to let him know that he is now “his bitch.” I guess I have to blame Travis for being careless as well because he knows the town, he’s staying in is pretty small. Everyone is in everyone’s business, and it seems like a whole lot of people living in Montana are shady as hell.
When Travis makes it back to his room, he’s surprised to see Ren’s henchman Donno waiting on him. I was surprised too. It was unexpected to say the least. The last interaction Travis had with Donno was when Ren showed up to chat with Dietrich about her missing stuff. Ren’s new plan is to use Travis to get to Dietrich. After putting him through a major amount of torture, she’s able to crack him. Except, Travis is also smart and has his own plans in mind. Travis knows that Smiley knows he’s been dealing with a cop, so he has to do something to keep Dietrich from finding out. Travis makes the decision to tell Ren and Donno that Smiley has her stuff and that he’s been double crossing Dietrich.
Max what were you thinking?
Max’s mom now knows what she’s been hiding and just like I thought she would, she told T-Lock. Max’s mom really believes that her boyfriend is some savior that can fix all of their problems but he’s not. Max really should have kept her mouth shut. If she was going to tell an adult what she had done, it should have been Cassie. Cassie is a freaking cop and has been really nice to Max. She would have been a much better person to ask for help. T-Lock puts on this act of being so concerned and says he’ll take care of everything, and Max doesn’t have to worry about anything. Yeah… Right.
T-Locks way to take care of everything is going to meet up with Smiley to try and convince him they should partner up to sell the drugs. Smiley and T-Lock obviously have a past because he’s less than pleased to see T-Lock, but that money and the product are far too good to pass up. Smiley eventually does decide to partner up. Unfortunately for him, the timing could not be worse. Smiley makes it back to his place with a sample of the product T-Lock gave him. Ren and Donno show up and end up killing him. Ren finds the baggie, so she then believes that Travis was telling her the truth and that Dietrich has been lying all along and does in fact have her stuff.
Lindor is hot on Ronald’s trail
Now that Jerrie has gone home to see her mom, Lindor is rolling solo. Cassie takes this time to finally go on an actual date with him. It’s a lunch date but it’s a start. I will say this, I felt like it was a little soon for them to be going on a lunch date together when she had been pushing him away for so long. The good thing about it was that Cassie at least admitted it when she told Lindor that all the times he asked her out, she should have said yes. As always, work comes up and Lindor informs Cassie he hasn’t given up on the Ronald search just yet.
Before Jerrie left, the two of them were working on hunting Ronald down and the latest piece of evidence they felt could lead them to him was Rick’s brother Wolf Legarski. Lindor pays a visit to Wolfs farm and tries to lie his way in but Wolf can see right through it so Lindor has to admit who he is. While he’s talking to Wolf, Agatha has Ronald and Scarlet hiding. She thinks she’s doing what they need to in order to protect her and Wolf. Once she realizes that Lindor is an officer investigating the Ronald Pergman case, she’s having second thoughts and wants to turn Ronald in.
Before she has a chance to make the decision, Lindor leaves. On his way out though, he is having second thoughts and thinking about all the things he saw inside the house mainly a box of cereal. He knows cereal is one of Ronald’s favorite things and seeing that Wolf runs a tight ship and has a farm, he knows he’s not eating that junk. Lindor seems like he’s going to go back up the hill to investigate further. We don’t think this is a good idea but then again, nobody on this show ever makes good choices.
Other Thoughts
- Who is the formerly creepy stalker guy??? Seriously, who the hell is this dude? I hope we find out before he bleeds to death. This is getting ridiculous. He’s been following Harper for weeks and he saved all the kids yet we still don’t know who he is? what the hell is going on?
- Did Max really think Cassie was going to believe that lie about her pink heart keychain being something that just means she’s single? Come on!
- What the fuck was that fat shaming comment? “Thought Dietrich was gonna be the fat girl at our pool party. I thought we were gonna Mean Girl the hell out of him.” Seriously, who wrote that line for Ren? And why did they think it was appropriate? fat shaming is such lazy writing and we’re over it.
- Now Ren’s brother Jag is coming with his sidekick Dhruv. Yay more people looking for “the stuff.”
Big Sky airs Thursdays on ABC and will return December 9th.
