I don’t like to think that people are judged by their size, but I am grown enough to know the reality is that they are. Even in a world where we are moving into more body positivity, acceptance of our bodies, we are still dealing with the fact that people want to judge you by what they have always perceived you as.
And for Rebel Wilson – her team had a lot of feelings when she decided that she wanted to take a year of health and change her life.
In a recent interview with the BBC, the actress talking about her teams reaction when she brought up her year of health
“I got a lot of pushback from my own team actually, here in Hollywood, when I said ‘Okay, I’m going to do this year of health, I feel like I’m really gonna physically transform and change my life,’ ” she recalled when bringing up her intention to change her life.
“And they were like, ‘Why? Why would you wanna do that?’ Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl and being that person,” she added.
She’s better than me, because I would have straight up punched someone in the face for asking me something like that. It’s like, none of your business, but you work for me, so support me.
We’re proud of Rebel Wilson, and she has inspired so many. It’s not because she lost weight, it’s because she does what is best for her and it takes courage to do that. She keeps inspiring with her positivity, light and humor. We’ll follow her anywhere.
“It’s fascinating. Why are people so obsessed with women, in particular, about their looks?” the actress added. “I know what it’s like to be a woman who is essentially invisible to most people because of not being seen as traditionally beautiful or whatever. It’s crazy to try to fit that. It’s just better to be the healthiest version.”
Truth, Rebel. Truth.
