Life isn’t fair and when you live your life on the internet, it’s a complicated bitch. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a life that they want to live. But when it’s your life on the line, what are you going to do?
The thing about the internet is that shit gets really rough sometimes. Keyboard warriors think that they know everything and can comment on everything, but what they don’t realize is that the social media is not reality.
But for Julian, social media is her reality and the fact that she’s being cancelled is too much for her to deal with. She’s angry. She’s upset. She’s hurt. And a girl is in denial.
But can we all stop and think for a second? Julian didn’t do anything when it comes to her Dad, yes. But she’s been a miserable human being. She’s put herself before everyone, not thinking about her friends. She’s made sure to make sure that everyone is at her every whim, but her being there for everyone – please. She’s put everyone in the back seat.
Other people have issues, but lets be honest. Even when Julian has tried to be there for others, it’s ultimately been for her own selfish needs.

Even now – her friends and the evil twins (Luna and Monet) are even trying to do everything to be there for her. And like, I get it, you want to make your friend feel better. But sometimes it’s a matter of pulling off the bandaid and making sure that your friends know the shit that they are really in.
Like for instance – Zoya is about to not be able to attend Constance. With Davis’s scholarship being pulled from Constance that means that Zoya doesn’t have the scholarship to go there.
And Zoya, putting her life on hold for her sister? And Julian letting her? Umm… no. Julian knows that Zoya doesn’t have the same privileges that she has. How can she let her sister put herself on the back burner?
DOES NOT COMPUTE.
Monet and Luna of course come up with a ridiculous plan and think that throwing a party will get Julian out of being cancelled. Of course though, no one is going to touch that. Like a person is cancelled and like you can’t just expect a party to put them back on the map. Like Julian’s Dad is still gonna be going through shit and she’s still gonna be going through shit.
Learn to lay low Julian. Learn to appreciate your life. Stop being so selfish.
Zoya goes off to meet the new benefactor of her new scholarship and stupidly takes a phone call while at this meeting. Monet tells her that the place that was due to hold the party has canceled and that Zoya needs to create buzz.
When did this become Zoya’s issue? Like Zoya is 14 and doesn’t know what to do. She stupidly uses her benefactors fame – which of course is going to backfire, but again, all of these people are too afraid to tell Julian the truth.
Meanwhile, Audrey’s trying to also get her Mom’s career back on track and being extremely selfish. She needs to let her Mom heal too and smothering her and trying to manipulate the situation is only going to make things worse.
And it’s definitely making it worse when she doesn’t take Max’s feelings into consideration. One thing I have to say is that i am loving the fact that we are seeing all sorts of sides of Max because he is a complex character. We’ve underestimated him and he’s not as closed off as we think.
He’s gotten Audrey’s Mom into a dinner with Eleanor Waldorf, on the condition that she not come. But the thing is that she doesn’t feel comfortable, so Audrey goes. This just doesn’t sit well with Max.
He’s hurting and Audrey makes it work.
I think that Audrey loves both Max and Aki, but she’s so confused. She doesn’t know who she is. But then again, neither do the boys. But it’s weird that the only person that recognizes this is Max. He’s being strong and not going off about it – cause like I’d cut a bitch.
And at the dinner Julien comes up and her being at the event and her wearing a dress she’s not supposed to be (it’s Audrey’s Moms dress) – Audrey calls her and tells her not to say who it is. But of course when Julien is pushed to the brink, she gives no fucks and says who designed her dress.
Again, Julien not caring that she’s affecting others.

Zoya has to call her out about her selfishness. Granted I can also see why Julien is upset that her friends lied to her and didn’t tell her what’s going. on. But then again she wouldn’t have taken it well.
Zoya has consistently put shit aside for her sister, when in all reality most of us would do as sisters. But there also is a moment where you have to take care of yourself. Julien doesn’t like being told off, but maybe being told off is exactly what she needs. She needs the harsh truth, because everyone protecting her isn’t working out at all.
She’s spent her life being free to do whatever she wants and be whomever she wants. She needs boundaries and hasn’t gotten those. And quite frankly – it’s a fucking problem.
When she heads to Audrey’s to return the dress and complain about Zoya, Audrey calls her out too. For once I am happy that people have finally gotten the balls to go off. This group is caddy, but they don’t really ever tell people just how shitty they are being.
Case in point – Monet and Luna being the way that they are.
So when Julien is told off again, she heads to her Dads where she finds out that he’s left. I mean, I wouldn’t have spoken to my Dad if he went on CNN and made it seem like I was complicit in his crimes.
Zoya, meanwhile, has to face her Dad and let him know that her scholarship has been pulled, because she tried to help Julien out. And she’s the only person in this episode that my heart hurts for. But the only thing that Julien does is take a small look at herself and we see her erase her Instagram.
And what about Gossip Girl? Well that bitch has gotten more savage. Scott needs to be stopped.
Do we all know that these friends will work their shit out? Sure. Do we know there will be drama? Of course.
Do we know that Gossip Girl will exploit it? Yes.
Gossip Girl is streaming now on HBO Max.
