I’ve about had it with Julien and will not be sad if she gets a reality slap. Look, I am fully aware that everyone deals with trauma differently and Julien is definitely going through her shit.
But she’s showing over and over again that to her – nothing else matters but her. And that makes her dangerous in my opinion. Why? Because that means that she doesn’t care about what other people loose and that people are disposable to her.
And everyone has a lot of stuff going on, so Julien needs to pull her head out of her ass and see that there is more than her in the world.
Obie’s sister is in town. Heidi is the opposite of Obie – she’s business like and driven by her place in the family company. She’s come back and told her brother that she’s engaged. That’s a shocker to Obie, but the person taking it the hardest… Max.
Heidi took Max’s virginity and I have to admit that I am now strangely weirded out by how good Max and Obie are cause most dudes are like touch my sister, you’re dead to me. But then again, this is the Upper East Side and they just aren’t well… the same as others.
Heidi is taking Obie to dinner to meet her man, and everything seems to be going well. But Max crashes and that brings chaos. Chaos is never a good thing, right? That’s what they tell us. But the truth is chaos is sometimes a good thing. Sometimes the lessons that are learned from it are the only things that keep us thriving.
But Max’s chaos – especially in the position he’s in, where everything is going wrong – is always legendary and toxic. But I don’t want to hold that against him because he is going through massive amounts of shit.
Max overhears Heidi on the phone. Her families company is buying her fiances hotel group and that will only benefit Klaus’s family. So Max thinks he’s got shit to destroy the relationship and he’s all over it.
After all no one is going to take advantage of his Heidi.
Oh Max, this doesn’t sound like anything good will come on any level. He of course tells Obie, who is going to protect his sister. That’s something that I can’t fault him for. Who wouldn’t want to protect the people that they care about? The problem is that he didn’t think and let Max talk him into making phone calls and not talking to his sister about it privately.
I would have thought that Obie knew better. I would have thought that he wouldn’t be blinded by Max and would have learned from the protest.
But in the same breathe, I do get why he didn’t. These teenagers are all too fucking confusing.
No surprise that Klaus is pissed and Heidi goes off. She looses her fiance, who she loves, and has to deal with Max making her even madder and thinking that he can get her back in bed and dismissing the fact that she could fall in love.
Max is Max and he’s looking for some sort of connection, but what he’s getting is pushback. I feel like the fact that he’s so lost right now makes him want any connection that has always felt safe, but it’s going to destroy him even more now that he hasn’t gotten that.
Life can’t be cured with a quick fuck and Max is learning that.
Meanwhile in the episode, Zoya met a new friend – who well, I may like better than the others. Shan is just as outspoken and rebellious as all the Upper East Siders, but she’s not like them. She’s a kid who isn’t wrapped up in the world of Gossip Girl. She’s a girl wrapped up in the art of having fun.
She takes Zoya on a day of rebellion – heading out onto the town, ditching school, and just living her life. And it’s a day that Zoya needs. But the thing is Zoya feels the need to lie about where she is and says that she’s with Julien.
Only Julien is in the midst of trying to save herself again. See her Grandma came to town and has told her she’s taking her home with her. So, she’s trying to stop having to leave New York and heads over to Zoya’s to prove she still has family.
What she doesn’t know is that Nick and her Grams have issues. Her Grandma kept him from the funeral of Zoya and Julien’s Mom. This may not have been her best idea.
And then when she doesn’t lie well for Zoya, it looks worse for all of them.
Julien’s going to have to resign to the fact that she’s about to loose everything. Well, we can think that for a hot second, but we know that somehow things always seem to go her way.
At a fundraiser, with her Grams, she’s coming face to face with her friends and actually being tolerable.
The thing is people actually really love Julien, so she’s gotta have a good side. Lately, I’ve not seen it. But then again, I think that there is a part of me that is being too judgy on that because she’s going through some serious shit.
And how would I react?
It’s Julien at the gala with her friends, seeing the way that they love her, and the way that Zoya invites her Grams to join them the next day for coffee that gets her to change her mind and allow Julien to move in with Nick and Zoya.
See, Julien isn’t leaving. It’s what we expected. But there will be consequences – we know that. We know the way that Gossip Girl works. Nothing is ever easy. Nothing is ever not dramatic.
But speaking of Gossip Girl – Kate is working hard to get the account back under her control. She manages to get Scott in a shit load of trouble. Jordan and Kate manage to get Tati caught up in an admissions scandal. So the only person to get rid of is Sharon.
But Sharon isn’t going to be so easy to get rid of. She’s bitter as fuck over the way that kids have treated her. She’s angry and doesn’t give a fuck what people think. She’s ready to undo it all.
She wants to release everything that has ever been sent.
And she’s pissed – even more pissed when she’s at the fundraiser and hears the girls in the restroom talking shit about her. And Sharon is so pissed that she posts a picture about one of them having an abortion and the tip was sent in by her Mom.
Sharon deserved what happened to her next. They set her up to make it seem as though she stole their phone and in the process were able to get access to Gossip Girl back, effectively locking her out.
I don’t agree with Sharon’s idea to release all of the tips, but I do believe that it was a good way to restart the drama in a different way.
When Kate, Jordan, and Kate set up a spreadsheet that has everything and release it – you know that shit is about to get hectic. But you also know it’s a reset.
But what will that reset bring? We’ll see…
