There are a lot of things to say about Cobra Kai, but as the season goes on, we’re realizing more and more that the LaRusso’s don’t get that they’ve raised their kids to be little shits. Like for real. Anthony and Sam are frustrating as fuck and act above others.
As we go on though, we’re also realizing that Ma and Pa LaRusso aren’t angels themselves. Daniel so stuck on avenging his youth and Amanda so stuck on trying to be the perfect when she’s the furthest thing from perfect. It goes to show you that people that you think have perfect lives – don’t.
But what we will say is that the LaRusso’s are trying very hard to have their shit together. We’re just seeing that the past is always something that is going to come back to bite you, when you don’t face it.
Johnny’s not much better. He’s pushed Robbie away and he hates himself for it. He thinks that there is some redemption for his shitty parenting if he can be there for Miguel. But the thing is – he is definitely not seeing that is probably going to destroy his relationship with Robbie. He is working on fixing the wrong thing.
Both of them are.

That being said, part of me forgot that we were dealing with the All Valley Tournament, because we’ve been dealing with Danny/Johnny shit. We’ve been dealing with them not getting along and not wanting to compromise.
But this episode opens up with the All Valley Tournament board implementing new rules. Rule changes aren’t always easy, especially when it screws up the plan. But then again, Danny and Johnny have been screwing up things on their own.
The Tournament is implementing a skills competition and a girls division. This is fine for Sam – except that she’ll have to face Tory (but we all knew that was going to come). Eagle Fang though, they have no girls and so this means that they have to find one.
But we all know that Johnny isn’t the best at socialization.
Creese and Silver are fine with the changes, they are busy splashing Cobra Kai branding around, drawing people in.
But the members of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, as well as Cobra Kai are having way too many personal issues.
Personally, Tory has aggression issues, but we’ve seen why that may be with her life and then her shitty aunt trying to get money. But she does want to get her shit together and she is definitely terrified of loosing her brother. This though means that she’s got to be on the up and up, and that means that she needs to get back in school.
But that means that she needs the LaRusso’s to sign off on it. After all she did assault Sam. Amanda has a heart for her and listens to Tory, but as they two are talking things out Sam and Daniel show up. Sam is so irritated to see her there and well, Daniel isn’t thrilled either. But Amanda is able to talk to Daniel and explain how she was and why she doesn’t want to turn her back on Tory. Amanda knows that she could have been Tory, but she’s lucky and had people believe in her.
This explanation makes Daniel a little more understanding. Seeing things from a new perspective isn’t something that he is great at, but at least he tries for his wife.
We don’t envy the situation that they are in. All of them are in this endless cycle of crap, because they allow themselves to be stuck. But this is their kid, who has been through hell because of Tory, and we don’t think that this is right, putting Sam in this situation.
Tory has proven that she can’t be trusted.
Sam needs to figure out what to do, so she goes to visit Aisha for advice. Aisha does have sound advice, telling Sam about how she approached her bully, and now they are best friends. The thing is that Sam is a little well, elitist and if we’re being blunt – we don’t think that she should forgive Tory either.
But people make mistakes and they should be allowed to redeem themselves. Tory isn’t the nicest person, but neither is Sam. Both have their faults that need to be dealt with. Sam tells her parents that she’s okay with it and Tory returns to school. Yet, she returns to school with Sam being a major bitch and basically tells Tory if she looks at her wrong, she’ll kick her ass. Me thinks that Sam misinterpreted the advice that she was given.
She wasn’t supposed to turn into the bully.
This season, the LaRusso children have proven that they are little shits with attitude issues. Both of them are being affected adversely and they are coming off negatively. I am hoping that this family turns their shit around, because right now – we really don’t like the LaRusso kids.
Hopefully they’ll get their shit together by episode 10.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- Johnny and Miguel getting along is something we can get behind.
- Johnny’s search for a girl to join his dojo is all sorts of creepy.
- Hawk wanting to quit karate made me sad. We hate Cobra Kai for taking that joy from him.
- Robby, we loved you, but what you did to Hawk is gross.
- Cobra Kai has agression issues.
Season 4 of Cobra Kai is streaming now on Netflix.
