Big Sky is back, and I feel like we should be way past season two by now but we’re still in it. There have been a lot of breaks in the show which I’m sure is due to COVID-19 but also, our girl Kylie Bunbury gave birth to her first child back in December. That being said we are now in episode nine of the show and the title “Trust Issues” was a good choice considering all that happened.
Let’s discuss, shall we?
An Unnecessary Farewell
Big Sky episode 2×08 “The End Has No End” left us with a cliffhanger of Ronald breaking free to get Scarlet’s daughter Phoebe back. While he was out, he paid a visit to Dewell and Hoyt where he ended up killing Cassie’s father Joseph after a run-in. We’re still pretty pissed about that we might add because it really was unnecessary. Cassie has gone through a ton of shit and I’m sick of her moments of happiness being stolen. Episode 2×09 “Trust Issues” threw us right back into it as we watched Cassie in literal shock over the loss.
Look, we get that the writers of this show had to do something to keep their common WTF shock factor going but killing Cassie’s dad off was just too much. We were already annoyed that Ronald broke out but when he killed Joseph, it just really made us mad. Like, seriously, WHAT WAS THE REASON? Ronald is obsessed with Cassie yes, we know, but it just felt like a “hey what if we had Ronald come back and kill Cassie’s dad?” it was lazy and it pissed me off that the writers felt in order for Cassie to even feel like going after Ronald again, she needed the motivation of her dad’s murder to do it.
Don’t even get us started on that ridiculous investigation of the crime scene either. Tubbs is suspecting a meth head, and Jenny thought it might have been the cartel. The sketch of Ronald is literally sitting on the floor marked by a yellow cone as part of the crime scene. HELLO, the clue to the murderer is right in front of your face. Now we know the Bhullar cartel is all about stopping Jenny and Cassie’s investigation, but they didn’t even know Cassie’s dad and have absolutely no interest in him. They would have absolutely nothing to gain from murdering him. Thank goodness for Linder putting the pieces together to figure out Ronald was involved. And all it took was a freaking box of cocoa chunks cereal.
The Best People In The World
Well, looks like we said goodbye to our friends Wolf and Agatha in this episode. After Ronald’s field trip he was re-captured by Wolf and returned to their ranch. Scarlet’s daughter Phoebe is of course now with them, and things have gotten complicated. Because Ronald got out and murdered someone Wolf and Agatha have realized that their plan to re-program him is not working. Wolf wanted to give Ronald another chance to redeem himself, but Agatha was having none of it and insisted that both he and Scarlet need to be taken care of. She wants them both dead. That was definitely a shock to hear her speak so strongly about it.
Even when Wolf expressed his concern about being violent against a woman, Miss Agatha being one of the “best people in the world,” told her little honey bunny she would take care of Scarlet so he wouldn’t have to. So sweet right? That plan backfired big time. Like we have been saying for a while now, Scarlet was prepared. She’s smarter than Agatha gave her credit for and is a master manipulator. She ended up getting the drop on Agatha and took her out and then preceded to stand by her man and rescue Ronald from Wolf.
Okay, we’re going to sound terrible for saying this, but we were really mad Ronald was able to get away. He’s been getting away with shit for too long and this chase is getting old. The only thing that made us a little happy about him getting out is that Cassie is going to be the one to bring his ass down. She just has to. Seriously, he murdered her dad, and has been terrorizing her, she needs to be the one to stop him once and for all. WE need her to be the one to stop him.
The Kids Have Confessed
So, Bridger, Madison, Max, and Harper have finally done what they should have done from the beginning; asked the adults for help. We’re glad that they did but it’s a little too late. They are all in deep now and their lives are literally at stake. Ren and Dhruv are still going after Bridger only now the money is gone for sure because T-Lock forced Max to break into their house to get the bag back. The whole situation has taken a toll on all of the kids, and they know they can no longer do any of this alone.
Madison confessed everything to their parents and Max and Harper went to see Jenny. Hopefully with all the kids doing this, things will get better. This is Big Sky though and the show always throws in some curveballs.
Other Stuff We’re Thinking About
- Joseph’s sendoff. Yup, that hurt.
- Bridger’s Sensei was umm… not the wisest man out there. Not really sure what his purpose was in the show because it was honestly pointless.
- Okay, I’m not a fan of Ren’s actions but, her brother Jag is an asshole. “You don’t matter” “Know your place” ewww. I’m so sick of the men on Big Sky and their misogynistic ways. Jag can fuck all the way off.
- Big Sky must still be casting Ren and Jag’s dad because they keep talking about him like he’s going to be popping up sometime soon. Frankly, I am not interested in another family feud storyline with a crazy ass power hungry father who treats his kids like trash.
- That wig they put John Carroll Lynch in is so freaking distracting.
- We didn’t get a whole lot of Stone in this episode but what we did get shows us things are about to get bad for him.
- Cassie, girl, please kick Ronald’s ass for all of us.
