We are beyond happy that Roswell, New Mexico season four is finally here. We’re also a bit sad as well knowing that this is the final one. Episode 4×01: “Steal My Sunshine” gave us a whole lot of feels from our favorite couples and it even gave us the feeling some new ones may be on the horizon. We also got an official introduction to the new alien who arrived in episode 3×13: “Never Let You Go.”
One thing we can say is that this episode did not waste time on throwing us into the next hurdle this group has to deal with. Let’s discuss Roswell, New Mexico 4×01: “Steal My Sunshine.”
ECHO is Back!
That’s right ECHO fans, Liz and Max are finally back together, and we could not be happier. Not only that, but they are also living together and have been for six months. They are so happy and in love and watching them was giving us tons and tons of feels. Both are happy in their careers. Liz is working as a teacher to help kids get their GED while Max is the interim Sheriff of Roswell.
As you can see, they’ve made some big changes in their lives, and it appears Max is ready to take an even bigger leap by proposing to Liz. It means so much to him that he goes to see Papa Arturo who gives him the ring that belonged to Liz abuela. It was adorable to watch because we don’t get too many scenes with Max and Liz’s father. It’s clear that Max is all in with his decision but Liz, not so much. At least not yet.
We love, love, LOVE our ECHO to the moon and back however, this couple really knows how to stress us out. Yes, we know that ultimately boils down to the writers of this show but come on, can we keep a little positivity for once? I’ll be honest, the moment Max shared his plan to propose, I knew it wasn’t happening in the first episode of the season. First of all, dragging it out makes for good drama and anticipation. Second, there were far too many moments that kept him from even being able to pull off the proposal to begin with. Seriously, there was literally another guy proposing to his girlfriend as Max was preparing to propose.
It didn’t get any better when Liz talked to her dad. Arturo is a wise man and always gives great advice. He knows that Liz loves Max with all her heart, but he knows his daughter. He could sense that she was still trying to figure out what she wants and so in a nutshell he basically told her if she’s not ready to dive into something like marriage, don’t.
When Max tries again to propose, Liz stops him right in his tracks. As we said, we love ECHO but they really know how to sabotage their own relationship. They are by far one of the most pessimistic couples and it’s stressing us out. Liz and Max communicate to each other that they are feeling worried about what the future might hold. Because they’ve been living so happily for the last six months, they just know something bad is coming to take away their happiness. Since they both are feeling this way, they decide to hold off on getting engaged.
MALEX Has Made It Official
We never thought we’d see the day that Michael and Alex would finally make their relationship official. And we’re not just talking about them being a couple. They too have moved in together. Michael being Michael is of course self-sabotaging. He’s freaked out over living with Alex because he doesn’t think that he’s ready to. Michael has this thing where he thinks he has to be perfect because if he isn’t there’s no way he can be loved.
He’s surrounded by so many people who love him and support him, but he still doesn’t feel like he’s worthy of love. Other than his relationships with Michael and Isobel, one of his most important ones now is with Dallas who we got familiar with throughout Roswell, New Mexico season three. Dallas refuses to let Michael fall into “woe is me” mode and encourages him to just relax and stop feeling like he’s not good enough. When Michael accidentally destroys a mini gazebo that Alex and his mom loved, it makes him really doubt himself even more.
Dallas gives Michael a lot of good advice and when he makes his way back home, Alex informs him that he doesn’t need the gazebo because Michael is the most important thing in his life, and he would be lost without him. We loved this moment because we’re hopeful that it leads to Michael finally realizing how much Alex loves him and that communication is one of the things that will help their relationship in the long run.
When Will Kyle Catch A Break?
Seriously? When is our precious Kyle going to catch a break? He’s incredibly selfless, he’s an amazing doctor who’s literally given his life for his friends. All we want for him is good things. He’s still working with Alex, and Eduardo at Deep Sky. He’s thrown himself into his work so much that he doesn’t even have a social life anymore. The only person who really brightens up his life is Isobel.
In Roswell, New Mexico season three, Kyle and Isobel did a lot of bonding. They became really good friends and we’d hoped they would become something more. Unfortunately, Isobel found happiness with Anatsa and they’ve both professed that they love each other. Kyle was clearly devastated when Isobel went to him for advice on her relationship with Anatsa because like us, he really did think that they would end up together.
While we’re bummed that Isobel and Anatsa have just taken their relationship to the next level, we’re still holding out hope that Kybel is going to happen. That doesn’t mean we don’t think it will suck or Anatsa because it takes courage to tell someone you love them.
The Triad Has Entered The Chat
Okay, so we are closing this review out by talking about the new aliens that just got to town. As we said earlier, in Roswell, New Mexico 3×13: “Never Let You Go” we were introduced to a new alien who at the time was unknown. We now know that her name is Tezca and apparently, she must have been contacted by Jones when he got his hands on the Lockhart Machine at Deep Sky.
She’s not the only one though. We now have a bank robbing alien couple- Bonnie and Clyde, yes those are their names, joining forces with Tezca to form their own triad. During their meet up Tezca caused a rainstorm to start. But it wasn’t just a run of the mill one. It was purple and released a few fire balls. We don’t know exactly what the rainstorm is bringing to earth, but it can’t be good. We also don’t know that much about these three. The only thing that we know so far is that they have come to earth for something called “the alighting.” Just what that is, we haven’t the slightest clue but we’re sure that it’s going to make the final season of Roswell, New Mexico interesting.
Other Thoughts
- ECHO is back. Despite the drama they still apparently need to work through, they’re back and that’s what matters.
- Loving Max’s new haircut.
- So, Dallas is sticking around and moving into Michael’s trailer, we’re happy about this.
- We have a really hard time believing that Kyle and Liz were able to completely stop the degeneration happening in Marias brain. We hate to sound negative about it but, this is Roswell, New Mexico and things are not wrapped up that easily.
- “Everybody deserves a little happiness.” – Liz to Maria.
- Is there something happening between Dallas and Maria? We would not be opposed to that. Sorry Gregory.
- Max’s former partner Jenna is now FBI Agent Cameron. Good for her. We like that she and Max have such a good friendship that she could go to him to help her solve the alien bank robberies.
- “You’re here so much the janitors dust you.” – Eduardo to Kyle.
- Isobel is the new sensei at Woman as Warrior. We love that for her.
- Liz told Max to promise he would ask her again to marry him and she promised she would say yes when he does. We may have screamed at our TV “If you want him to ask you again, why you don’t just say yes now?”
- If an alien hands you an umbrella on a dry day because he’s picking up on some weird vibrations in the air that will bring rain, you take the umbrella.
- But for real, what is “The Alighting?”
