Emily is an upcoming biographical drama film written and directed by Frances O’Connor in her directorial debut. It depicts the brief life of English writer Emily Brontë, portrayed by Emma Mackey, before she wrote Wuthering Heights. Fionn Whitehead, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Alexandra Dowling, Adrian Dunbar, Amelia Gething, and Gemma Jones also appear in supporting roles.
According to the official synopsis, “Emily imagines the transformative, exhilarating, and uplifting journey to the womanhood of a rebel and a misfit, one of the world’s most famous, enigmatic, and provocative writers who died too soon at the age of 30.”
Emily is set to premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022, before being theatrically released in the United Kingdom on October 14, 2022, and in the United States in 2023. And, as you know, we love period shows, so this movie will be on our radar.
