We are nearing the end of Roswell, New Mexico. That feels so strange to say because we just love this show and the cast so much. Saying goodbye is going to be so sad. This season of Roswell, New Mexico has been filled with a lot of highs and lows for the characters. Episode 4×11 “Follow You Down” saw us finally have our Malex reunion and it was even more emotional than we could have imagined.
Let’s get into our latest review of Roswell, New Mexico and talk about episode 4×11 “Follow You Down.”
The title of this episode was actually perfect considering it was basically an hour of people following someone they loved down to whatever depths they had gone down. Liz is still on her high from the alien mist but it’s beginning to wear her down to the point that she is requiring more and more. Rosa attempted to gather everyone together for an intervention, but Liz wasn’t ready.

Rosa’s been through what Liz is going through and she’s doing everything she can to be there for her sister. When she finds a hidden canister of the alien mist that Liz intended to take, before she can do anything further, Clyde shows up with Liz’s student Vanessa. He’s using Vanessa as a pawn, and he takes Liz so that she can help him fulfill Jones’s plans. Unfortunately, Clyde underestimates Liz and her capabilities.
The alien mist has not only enhanced Liz’s brain power, but it’s also made her cockier and more prideful. She really doesn’t seem to have even an ounce of fear. Even when Clyde threatens her by saying he will harm Vanessa, Liz continues to berate him and tell him that he’s been nothing more than a pawn in Jones’s plans. Clyde believes that he’s one of Jones’s most trusted disciples so he’s willing to do anything for him. Jones was a cult leader and that’s all there is to it.
Bonnie was able to break away after learning the truth about herself. She realized she didn’t have to be what Jones wanted her to be. Her newfound freedom opened up a whole new world for her. Clyde on the other hand, remains devoted to the very end. Liz was able to trick Clyde into believing she was working on a way to sever his bond with Jones in order for him to be able to portal hop or go back to oasis. Whichever he wanted. What she really did was disable his powers.
Clyde of course survived what Liz did to him but he’s now walking around minus an arm. Since Liz double-crossed him, he goes to what he thinks is the next best thing- Shivani. He needs his powers back and the only way he can achieve that is by getting a dose of the alien mist from her.
Shivani is hesitant at first until he offers her the thing, she wants most, her daughter’s life back. If you’ve been paying attention this season of Roswell, New Mexico then like us, you shouldn’t be surprised by Shivani turning on Liz. We saw it the moment they met. Those two have never been on the same page and we knew it was no coincidence she just showed up looking for Liz.

While Liz was dealing with all of her drama with Clyde, both Dallas and Bonnie were reunited with Alex and Michael after being trapped in a boxcar. Don’t ask me how because Spectrum chose the reunion moment to freeze my TV. The next scene I saw was literally Alex and Michael hugging and kissing each other. At least that didn’t get cut off.
The Malex reunion was so sweet and at the same time it felt like no time had passed for these two at all even though they had been apart. That’s the thing about Malex, they can fall right back into step with each other and that’s beautiful. It was pretty sweet of Dallas and Bonnie to give Michael and Alex the time they needed to have their moment. It was long overdue for us.
During their moment, Alex proposed to Michael. It was the cutest thing in the world and there was zero hesitation from Michael saying ‘yes.’ Our Malex hearts were so full watching them together but then they were quickly broken because well, Roswell knows how to deliver us a gut punch at just the wrong moment. We knew Alex looked a little rough while watching him and Michael reunite but we just assumed it was because he’d been through a rough ordeal being sucked into alien quicksand.
What we did not expect was to find out that Alex is dying due to radiation poisoning. Like, seriously??? He and Michael have been apart for the entire season. Then we get them together again and he’s freaking dying! We admit we were naïve not to think about how Alex would be affected by being in the pocket dimension. We really did think it was just a simple situation where he was just sort of walking around aimlessly in the desert but would then be able to go home unscathed.
This new revelation does catch Michael off guard so we couldn’t blame him for being a little upset. But it’s not I’m angry at you upset. It’s more so due to fear. Michael can’t lose Alex and we hope he doesn’t.
Alex who feels like he’s now on borrowed time is ready to marry Michael right away because he doesn’t want to spend what he believes to be the remainder of his life, without him. Their window only grows even shorter when Dallas and Bonnie inform them that the trees containing the alien fruit which would have been the fuel to get them home has been burned down and now, they are stuck in the pocket dimension.
We gotta be honest, this is not the ideal situation we would have imagined for these two. Especially when they have been apart the majority of the season. We’re going to remain hopeful until the end that Malex, Dallas, and Bonnie will be able to make it back to the other side of earth.
Other Things That Happened

- That Kybel moment. Why didn’t Isobel talk first? If she had, she could have beat Kyle to the punch and finally tell him she loves him too.
- Speaking of Kybel, how come Rosa and Max can clearly see that Isobel and Kyle love each other yet they can’t see it?
- Shivani had a lot of damn nerve stealing Max’s pods. I knew the moment Liz took her to the cave, Shivani was going to pull something.
- “I am so sick of people telling me what my future is.” – Max to Shivani.
- Really curious as to who will actually end up going to Oasis. Someone is going. We can’t see all of this ending without any of the aliens choosing to go there to learn more. Our money’s on Dallas. Theo is his dad, and he did a lot of good on Oasis. We feel like that’s where Dallas would truly be able to get more insight into his past.
- “As long as we are looking at the same stars I’ll never look away.” – Alex to Michael.
- He said ‘Yes.’ We just wanted to write this okay.
- We knew at some point the alien mist was going to hit Liz. Looks like in the upcoming episode she’s going to be dealing with a lot more consequences.
