If Roswell, New Mexico 4×09 “Wild, Wild West” was about everyone working together to save Liz, then we’re going to say Roswell, New Mexico 4×10 “Down In A Hole” was all about Liz alienating everyone around her. While she was doing that, the others were working together to try and figure out a way to rescue Alex, Dallas, and Bonnie.
Pocket Dimension

Ever since Alex went missing in the alien quicksand we’ve been trying to figure out where he is. Now that Dallas and Bonnie are in there as well, we finally got an answer. While it does suck that Dallas is in there, it’s also not such a bad thing because he knows the ins and outs of it. When Bonnie asked him where they were he was immediately able to say that based on what his dad’s bible said, they were stuck in a “pocket dimension.” That to us honestly sounds like another way of saying the upside down.
To be honest, this whole episode watching Dallas, Bonnie, Maria, Rosa, Michael, and Kyle (yes, our favorite Doctor is back in Roswell) try to get to each other was very reminiscent of Stranger Things 4×07 “The Massacre At Hawkins Lab” when the Lite Brite was used to communicate.
When Kyle returned to Roswell, he brought a little something back with him. What he brought was a weird box that he couldn’t figure out how to open. The only thing that the box had was a special note from Michael’s mom which read “Time will tell you when to join these together.”

We always like watching the Michael/Kyle team-up because they have such a great dynamic. When they work together, they can do some great things. After they got to Michael’s place, just as they were trying to determine how to open the box, it opened up on its own and after it attached itself to Michael’s console, they both realized it was his missing pieces. Once the console reformed itself, Michael and Kyle noticed a weird symbol which they figured out could mean either the word “open” or “death.”
Michael ever the optimist just knows the word has to mean “Open.” Kyle like us, was still skeptical. I mean, who wouldn’t be when those are your only two options. Thank goodness for Maria because she helped confirm that it was in fact a way to open something. That something was the portal into the pocket dimension. After using her newfound abilities that Rosa helped her channel, she found her way to the exact spot where Dallas and Bonnie were. It just so happened that the place held a piece shaped exactly like Michael’s console.
When Michael and Kyle made there way down to the location where Maria was, they quickly set up the console and used morse code to get in contact with Dallas and Bonnie. The portal opened up and they all realized that the portal was a bridge between their alien world and earth. Michael just knew he would be able to see Alex but unfortunately, he wasn’t with Bonnie and Dallas. Okay, can we just say this was one of the most annoying things? How is it that Bonnie and Dallas were able to find each other so quickly but Alex is still nowhere to be found.
Like, how big is that pocket dimension and who is Alex even with? Tezca is on earth with Isobel, so we know it’s not her. The only person it might be is Clyde but that’s still a stretch. Either way, Michael knows he has to do something to save Alex, so he chooses to step onto the other side into the pocket dimension before the console runs out of juice.
Dallas and Bonnie could have easily chosen to step back on the other side to earth, but they too want to see things through and help Michael save Alex as well. So, now we have all three of them in the pocket dimension so we’re hopeful they can all save him.
All Hyde No Jekyll

As we mentioned earlier, Roswell, New Mexico 4×10 “Down In A Hole” was all about Liz alienating those she loves. After she made the stupid decision to basically merge with her darker side in Roswell, New Mexico 4×09 “Wild, Wild West” Liz has been acting strange. She’s short tempered, high-strung, and she’s got the shakes. Liz doesn’t think anything is wrong and she’s embracing that her mind has been opened due to the alien mist. It’s opened up a new side of her and it’s made her feel like she can conquer science.
The only problem with this is that she is craving more alien mist now. She and Shivani literally get high on it together because they just know it will unlock their potential. This seems like a good way to go at the time until they realize that they are each on totally different paths. Shivani’s reasoning is solely for her to bring her daughter back to life. She and Liz do achieve giving life back to something that was once dead when they basically reanimated a frog.
Shivani took that as the green light to blast full-steam ahead and was ready to bring Nicole back. Liz on the other hand, thought it was a bad idea because bringing a human back from the dead is much different than an animal. It’s interesting the way that Liz lectures Shivani about how impulsive she is when she herself is also a very impulsive person. Liz hasn’t always made the wisest choices when it comes to her work.
Those unwise choices were only further magnified by her taking the alien mist. Liz’s addiction has taken over and she’s not concerned about anyone but herself. She’s taking advantage of her own loved ones for her personal gain. She went back to Max’s pod to get more of his genetic material in order to create more alien mist. He busted her doing it, but she made up some lie to get him off her back.
One of the hardest moments to watch was how callous and cold she was to Rosa. After Liz ran out of Rosas blood, she went to see her to get some more. Of course, she was dishonest as to why she needed it but that’s not what we’re focused on. Liz started to bash Rosa’s artwork in the most horrible way, and we hate to say it, but she was a huge bitch.
Look, we know that the alien mist was part of why she was talking to Rosa the way she did, but it was still messed up. Since Roswell, New Mexico 4×09 “Wild, Wild West we come to learn that there is a part of Liz that is that resentful and has those deep seeded feelings.
Rosa picks up on Liz’s behavior and realizes it’s reminiscent of her own past when she was an addict. She mentions to Liz that she knows by the way she’s acting she’s been using the alien mist and is becoming addicted to it. Liz’s response was to immediately slam Rosa for being an addict. It was awful and I was in shock. It was probably the cruelest I’ve ever seen Liz be.
Knowing that something is wrong with her sister, rather than shut her out, Rosa turns to Max for his help. Of course, that doesn’t work either because Liz is so into her own goals even though she told Max that what she’s doing is all for him. Her attitude and the way she just cut him off said otherwise.

Max really thought that his and Liz’s love would make her snap out of it or something, but she’s too far gone at this point. Liz has put the science above her relationship because she feels like her weakness is emotional ties. Before taking the alien mist she was feeling limited and now she feels like she can do anything, but Max is the limit and the thing holding her back. Her decision is to cut him off. We don’t know about you but cutting off the one you love is not looking out for them or doing something for your relationship.
Because Max knows that what’s going on with Liz is a side effect of the alien mist, he realizes the only way he will be able to save her is if he gets his own powers back. With all that has been happening in this final season of Roswell, New Mexico we’re really starting to wonder if the final showdown will end up being between Liz and Max. That would be an interesting thing considering Jones always said she was the key.
Other Things

- Dallas is so lovable, and he has such great moments with everyone in this show.
- Man, Theo really thought of every place he could to keep his codes hidden. Dallas’s dad is a genius.
- The warm fuzzies when Kyle came back and hugged Isobel. All. The. Feels.
- “I’m not one to probe and tell.”
- Kyle immediately threw himself right back into his work when he got back to Roswell. Anything to try and take his mind off Isobel.
- Isobel, we saw you zooming in on Kyles picture girl.
- Loving that Isobel is the one helping Tezca now. She helped her when she was a child and now Isobel is returning the favor.
- A little disappointed that Max didn’t pick up on Liz’s behavior sooner. Sure, he knew something was up, but as well as he knows her, Rosa shouldn’t have been the one to point it out.
- Not Shivani calling Max’s alien matter in his pod egg whites. Rude.
- “She didn’t reach back.” Oh, Kyle (Insert crying emoji).
- We really hope that Malex reunion is coming soon. It’s taking a long time. We’ve basically had nearly an entire season without these two together.
