Anne Rice fans, prepare to rejoice. It looks like we’re going to be getting more Louis and Lestat vampy goodness. AMC’s Interview with the Vampire series has just been renewed for a second season. The adaptation which premieres on Sunday has already seen rave reviews. Including from us here at Fangirlish. It’s always a huge deal when a show gets the green light for a second season before it’s even had its official premiere and we can’t say we’re surprised by this news.
As we’ve told you, a few of us are big fans of Rice’s books and we love Interview with the Vampire. We know a few people are skeptical about how this adaptation was done. We can assure you that Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid who play Louis and Lestat, have done a fantastic job of bringing these classic characters to life.
While there are some variations to this series, the story is there and it’s quite beautiful. I know that may be weird to say considering this is a vampire story with all the blood and whatnot but it’s true. As a fan of Rice’s books and this story, it’s wonderful to be in her world in a serial format. Because it is a series for TV, there’s time to let things breathe and to give us the things we haven’t seen before.

For one thing, we’re getting the Louis/Lestat love story in a way that we never have. The AMC adaptation does not shy away from it; what Anderson and Reid did with this story just works. We loved this adaptation and we’re extremely happy to know we’re not going to have to say bye to these two anytime soon. According to Variety, season two will be eight episodes and is set to take place in Europe.
We don’t know how you feel about this but, we’re excited. The set pieces for season one with the New Orleans backdrop is gorgeous and lush. We just know it’s going to be even more so when we get to take a trip overseas. Once season one premieres, we expect that more people will be just as enthralled by this adaption as we are. If you just cannot wait till Sunday to watch we’ve got something to share with you.
If you subscribe to AMC+ you can watch episode one of Interview With The Vampire right now. Trust us when we say 10/10 would recommend. In the words of Louis, “Let the tale seduce you.” Happy watching.
Interview with the Vampire premieres October second on AMC TV and AMC+.
